Let me just start off by saying this might be the best rack on the market right now.... I am EXTREMELY happy with it! The install was fairly easy. The initial m8 bolts were tough to put in where the side rails are mounted on the 4Runner but other than that the install was a breeze. From unboxing to install it probably took 2.5 hours. As mentioned, the rack is a sold 1 piece rack with welded cross members instead of the traditional nuts and bolts fasteners on other racks. I have zero complaints with the ARB Base Rack. I am attaching a few photos of it mounted to my wife's 4Runner.

Thanks for posting pics, I have been waiting to see this rack installed! Does the rack extend over the side of the 4runner or does it sit flush with the roof? Hard to tell from the pics but looks like it hangs over a bit.

I would say it is fairly flush with the sides! The total width is 50"

@midwestoffroad looks great!!! How does ARB seal the rack to the roof? Do they use a rubber pad/washer or do you use silicone?

ARB provides a rubber seal and washer. I contemplated keeping the original seal and putting ARB's provided rubber seal on top of the original one. They are nearly identical.

In comparison to the Yakima lockNload that I had on prior to the base rack, this is silent. There is a wind noise that you are going to hear on any platform rack but it isn’t a whistle or anything that annoys me!

What exactly are you mounting? Looks clean though. I wish more rack companies would have maxtrax/rotopax specific cutouts already drilled so you don’t have to purchase proprietary mounting hardware.

We are going to be mounting our roof top tent to it mainly, but it will also come in handy for our IKEA trips

Can you get a picture of the racks clearance to the shark fin antenna? Can't really see how that fits with the new rack. Looks awesome though.

Which tie down straps or bungee cords would you be using for let's say a dining table that's 80lbs from Ikea? I've always wondered how I could strap something down like a large flat box on top of my rack..

I would tie my ratchet straps to the eye bolts. I would not trust anything other than ratchet straps for something of that weight!

Thanks for posting pics, this is the exact rack I'm looking at. Can you tell me what the total height of the rack is, from base of the mount to top surface of the rack? Need to calculate garage fit!

Also, does it interfere with the moonroof at all? I measured the 61" on my roof and it's hard to tell if you can still flip up the moon roof.

Thanks again!
