The thing that worries me is that these are all show, and no go. On their website, it says they're halogen and any install of HID/LED will void their warranty. If I'm going to upgrade headlights, then I need them to actually work better than the crappy halogen we have in our trucks now.

I thought most people were happy with the 10-13 reflectors. Do the halogen upgrade if you want a little bump in output.
Headlight High Output Halogen Conversion.
Replacing the factory H11 low beam bulb with a modified H9 bulb.
Replacing the factory 9005 high beam bulb with a modified 9011 bulb.
How To: Headlight Bulb Conversion (H11 to H9 & 9005 to 9011)

And for the record, my TSB replacement headlight assemblies aren’t looking so good either.

The pricing for the Spyder headlights are $225 plus shipping and tax for a set. This is what a rep said in regards to them being halogen "These come with halogen bulbs, we don’t recommend HID bulbs because sometimes you will have to modify the housing and that will void the warranty."

This is what they said on a reply to me on Instagram about that too, "correct, the platinum and apex series will be led, you can wait for those as they will be available at a later date"

ugh. please don’t bother with any of these dime-a-dozen, cheap-ass, China-sourced “turnkey” headlight replacements. if you want to be happy, just have a fresh set of OE headlights retrofitted by a professional with your choice of HID or LED components.

For $225 I'm going to give them a shot. Worse case is I don't like them and I put the originals back in. I can always sell them and get some money back too if I don't like them.

Getting retrofitted was one of the best modifications I have done to date...

Those look pretty awesome! I emailed Spyder to get more info - Depending on what they say, I may actually wait until they come out with the LED Apex series...

Last time I checked with Syper, they didn't know anything. "Its coming, stay tuned." They tell everyone to email them for more info and that's all they responded with. I'll keep my money.

The rep said they don't have a timeline for the HID/LED ones right now. I was the first to order the regular ones yesterday. He told me ETA is 8/18 for them.

Why would they even bother with making a halogen version? You would think the hid/led versions would at least be out first.

Ok - After a few email exchanges with Robert T at Spyder I ordered a set of the black ones that were in the Facepage and Instagram post (Sku# 5087454)- $225 plus shipping. The ETA is 8/18.

We'll see.... I really just want an upgraded look. After 8 years with my 2010 Trail I'm just looking to fresh things up and make it more of an overland runner.

Next on the list:
Falcon suspension
rock sliders
LED interior lights
SCS wheels with 285/70/17's and BFG TA/KO's

I'll post pictures of the Spyders in this thread once I install them...

I ordered the black set too. It's worth a try.

Update..
I pulled the plug on ordering the halogen lenses and, based on the advise in this post, will wait until they come out with the Platinum series.

This ended up being a low priority upgrade and can wait a few months until I can upgrade the headlight output too. In the last month I've purchased an Ironman 4X4 suspension, Rock sliders, SRS Ray 10's, new tail lights and still need to get tires. I needed to give the credit card a break.
