I don’t either so I guess that saying “never buy the first model” holds true with parts too.

Yeah I figured that but I’ve waited long enough to get new headlights. I was about to buy the Alpharex but prefer the looks of the morimoto. Who knows, Toyota will probably charge 2k for them. If it all works out I’ll be selling my stock headlights with HID bulbs.

Yes but do you think it’s going to be better ? If so will it cost more then $1250? Let’s see what Toyota does.

Have you guys seen the HR reviews. Why is gen2 with 3 led low beams have less lux then gen1 with two led low beams ?
Doesn’t make sense.

I saw that before I made the purchased but from the looks of thing it might be a mistake but who knows. What I was excited about was how the Gen2 filled out the room more from the sides than the gen1 which leads me to think they fixed the blind or dark area that makes the gen1 sucked so bad. But ones again who knows, it might be from a different room or position. If it works out I’ll be happy plus morimoto has a 5 year warranty, not sure about the Toyota led headlights though.

Yes I’m hoping HR would comment on there own review. I really like the three LED and I was really close to buying them last night. The cascading LED at start up and power down is nice too.
I think I’m going to wait a few weeks for some more external reviews before I jump on board.

HA! If you are within 10mins from me I could show it to you in person? I live in the bay area too. I'll message you or you could remind me in a week?

I really appreciate it if you could compare them side by side to see if they are worth the upgrade.

I would love to see the OEM 2021 trd pro led headlights. I hope they fit my limited tho. I have the OEM Toyota LED fog light and it's 1000 times better than Morimoto!

Curious if you think your stock headlights with HID bulbs are that bad of an upgrade from stock?? Like you I have been stalling to make a choice on replacing stock but cannot decide if I should just put in a HID kit or pay the extra for headlights. Excited for your review/pics.

That would be great to see. HID bulb in the stock projector vs these Gen 2 Morimoto headlights. I suspect the drop in bulbs will still be better. Hope to be proven wrong though

I'll make sure I compare the two with every angel possible with pics. The issue I have with my HIDs is the wiring under the hood; It just doesn't look clean no matter how well I hide the wires. Don't get me wrong, I like them and it works well, 10x than stock. I guess only folks with car/truck OCD will understand

Interested to see some real world reviews on these!
Looks like it throws like a bit more evenly instead of the odd hot spots with the Gen 1.
I’m glad I didn’t jump the gun and pick up a set that was haphazardly designed. Buy all means, the gen 1s were great for show, but not output. (Comparing to other LED variants)

Appreciate that. If it has better output than my current setup I’m sold.
Side note: Looks like you’re in the Bay Area as well. If you’re interested I can add you to our 5th gen Bay Area Slack group. We go wheeling and do trips quite frequently. Just DM me your email

I'm guessing they did the Gen1 vs Stock test at a different distance (or some other different environmental factor) than their Gen2 vs. Stock test. You can see their stock Lux rating went down between the two tests as well.
