Great point. I am not sure why JW speaker is not in the market for Toyota.

I mean how hard is it to make a good headlight housing that provides a good beam pattern? I just drove a 2020 Audi A4 with adaptive LEDs! ow man. The brightest I have ever seen! They project very far down the road. Wide beam pattern.

Plus let’s face it, it doesn’t take much to improve the stock output with any bulb type with higher output.

Would love to be convinced that these new headlights are worth it.

I think my priority right now are the rears. The stock running lights are not very bright either. I drive up into Wyoming in the winter and run into severe weather. I came up on another 4R pretty fast because the rear running lights where not very visible in the thick weather conditions. I installed Baja S2s in the rear with red lens to run as rear fogs after that. Thinking the newer Anzo with sequential turns, but that is another topic for another thread.

Yeah I’ll try adjusting them and take it for another test. Right out of the box the beam was pointing lower than I expected. From all the pics of the gen1 , I do noticed that the gen2 light beam spreads out a little more. Is it better than my wife’s X5 led? Hell no! I’ll let you guys know how it goes after the adjustments.

The 2021s will most likely be far better than any of this aftermarket crap as it will meet the legal requirements. That said, in the big scheme of things, LED headlighting is in its infancy and there are very few first gen LED systems that are as good as legal HID systems they replace. Here, we skipped the HIDs entirely, so I'm not sure how good they will be, but they'll be better than any aftermarket LED

On the Civic, be careful not to confuse "brighter" with "better". Honda/Acura isn't known for exceptionally good LED headlights - but here again, we are going from halogen directly to LED.

Try a shopping center parking lot. There is usually a big flat wall with no doors and a mostly flat parking lot.

Take the pictures with front bumper about 25ft away from the wall. Then, stand with your back to the wall at about the level of a car seat (bring a tallish folding chair) and take two pictures - one from dead center and then step about 15 feet to your right (back still to the wall) and take two pictures - one straight ahead and one looking at the car.

Wrangler headlights are sealed beam, so you are basically making one big light bulb, rather than making a housing and a light source.

The Wrangler retrofits (depending on who makes them) are most likely legal - no non-sealed beam retrofits are legal - and for obvious good reason.

Always blows me away how definitive people are on this forum in regards to products they have never used. I can’t speak for the Audi, but my daughters Civic has LEDs that are only offered on very few versions, Touring, Type R, etc. they ARE very good with a very sharp and low cut off. I can’t imagine them blinding anyone. Having a teen driver being able to see better is a good thing, for everyone. After owning two Acura’s and a couple Honda’s, they are the best yet, blow away the MDX I had.

From the video, you can clearly see the Luxx series has the blind/dark spot on the sides. The same issue that everyone had with the Gen1 Morimoto; rightfully so. I feel the Gen2 addressed it, to an extent. Overall I was indifferent with the light output but after some adjustment, I'm good with keeping it.

If you get a chance could you find a dark area, hold the camera front top center of the steering wheel and snap a couple pics? It's helpful to do before and after but the ship sailed already.
