Gen 2 Xb headlights is out already!!!
Hi guys,
I bought my first set on November. I can't believe the Gen 2 is out already! It's not even a year yet!
Thoughts? They are now wiring the DRL to INJ fuse. I think I stick with my first gen until they go out and Hopefully I will get those as warranty replacement.

I wont be a test mule on my own nickel anymore. I'll check back in 6 months to see if these
A. Have light upfront and towards the sides
B. Do not fail (sometimes multiple times) with burnt out LEDs
If they had a spine they would send everyone with 1st gen a free set

Looks like they just stole Alpharex's design for their Gen 2. I don't think they will be able to compete in the market that they were the first to enter. They are quickly trying to play catch up with an early adopter and their Gen 1 was such a flop that I can't see renewed confidence in the quality for Gen 2.

I bought them when they were on sale for $900.
I really like the alpharex, but they only provide two years warranty. It's also a pain to replace these headlights. I hate removing the bumper.

The design is very different than the Alpharex lights. These new headlights have (3) low beam LED projectors with the (2) inner ones being Bi-LED projectors for the high beam. The Alpharex lights are (3) low beam projectors and (1) dedicated high beam projector.
It would be great to see a side by side light output comparison.

Pretty bad when you rush a product to market that isn't ready, overcharge for said product, release absolute garbage product that has nothing but shortcomings and failures, then admit you released a crap product by releasing a new version within 6 months. Terrible

I want to like these. But I’m extremely skeptical after hearing about all of the issues people had with defective first release units, along with the unsafe beam side cut off.

I would be mad, but realistically, my gen 1 headlights will fail during the remaining 4.5 years I have left on my warranty. I would assume that they would phase these in as warranty replacements eventually. Not a fan of the start up pattern gimmick, but I could live with it.
These likely also fixed the corner led failure in the DRL as well. Locally a TRD Pro and a Tacoma have these headlights, and they both have that common failure. I guess they just haven’t noticed.
Overall I still enjoy my headlights, but I must admit that I rarely drive at night.

Wish they had a heating element. I don’t get why no one does 4R headlights with it. Several options for Jeeps.
I put Truckers LED headlights in my wife’s JK a month after we bought it. Talk about terrible factory headlights. Light was great but once winter hit they just packed up with snow and ice. Then I replaced them with the heated version, no more winter issues.

Best of luck, may prove to be a winner for Mori. Save the box and all packing just in case.
Check out this thread and take before/after pics in the same spot, camera front, top, center the steering wheel. It will help others judge, thanks

Looking forward to your review. I've heard that with Morimoto, gen1's are typically the worst as they are the first release. Within a few months they release a gen2 that fixes all the issues with the gen1's. I don't agree with that business method, just sharing what I've heard from (non t4r) car guys.

Why not just wait and buy a set from the 2021 4Runner pro
Toyota will probably have them for sale 4/6 months from now

Thx! Yeah, I’ve been following the headlights threads and made aware of all the issues. This is a gamble which I can get my money back.
