Best (most reliable with no issues) LED headlights

Hey guys,

I'm hoping to get some LED headlights. But the more I read the more I see quality issues with some. Which is the most reliable with no burn out issues?

Thanks,
Chris

I am looking too. The Morimoto's seem to get the most praise. However, if you read through the reviews, they don't seem that reassuring. Perhaps its worth a try though. For me, I had a set of the best reviewed ones and after pulling them after less than a year of use, they were badly darkened on the housings. Not a good sign. I contacted the seller and they are doing their best to avoid responding to that particular point.

Morimotos definitely do not get the most praise. they probably get the most negative reviews. I'd say alpharex hands down. Pretty much a no brainer.

Really? I am going by what I have been reading on this forum. I try to search and read up as much as possible before posting or buying things. The Morimoto's seem to be beloved by many of the members. Truthfully, never even heard of "Alpharex" until now.

Edit: Quick online search shows Alpharex as full replacement housings. Wasn't even considering those. I was speaking on bulbs alone.

Same thread but a few disgrunted folks.

Also, why not the brighter H11s or H9s? The morimotos (or any other LED in the stock projector) seem questionable based on Crashburn's technical review on TW.

Thanks for the links. I read that thread, skimmed really. Not interested in doing housings. Just wanted a bulbs that were a bit brighter than the oem halogens. I was hoping for h11 LED bulbs, but like the OP, I couldn't find a suitable, reliable set.

I am starting to think that as well. I had a xenondepot HID kit and one other kit. Both were miserable to deal with. One wouldn't fire consistently, and the other was just garbage with multiple different failures. Removal and return for warranty replacements is a pain as well.

I bought Xenondepot but never installed them. I'll probably end up selling them.

I've been thinking about going Morimoto for HID low beams. VLEDs is another option for LEDs. I've had great luck with their V6 LEDs as DTRLs and turn signals in my Tacoma.

Yeah, you're probably doing yourself a favor not using the xenondepots. Such a headache. I recommended it to a friend, and he hasn't forgiven me for it. I want to love the Morimoto's because others here have, but the Amazon reviews..

i have alpharex lights, i think they will last a long time.

yes most people are disgruntled with morimoto and being guinea pigs and paying them to beta test their lights.

If you’ve done your research on this forum you will have realized that drop-in LEDs in our OEM halogen housings are wrong. It’s like pounding a square peg into a round hole. You can do it but they give you terrible performance. Plus a lot of them are crappy quality.

The only way to get good LED headlights is to spend $$$$ and get complete replacement LED housings.
Before you drive yourself crazy try the proven modification to higher performing halogen bulbs in this thread:
How To: Headlight Bulb Conversion (H11 to H9 & 9005 to 9011)

See post 122 for the pictures.

At this point I would probably wait and see if the 2021s OE LED headlights will be plug and play. Wouldn't bother with the aftermarket stuff.

I'm currently running the LASFit led bulbs made specifically for the 5th gen. I have no issues with it and they light up the road significantly better than the stock halogens. IIRC, a few members use this same kit as well. Having said that, I do plan on buying LED housings in the future.

LASFit
