My 17 Pro had the entune. As far as the audio side goes it does not even compare to my 2020 Pro JBL system. It comes with the navigation even tho I usually use my google maps on my iPhone.

I also spoke with a sales person who said to me that lots of people are opting to not have the built in GPS because of the new phone GPS connectivity features. And look at the "download details" PDF in the summary at the end of the build. It only mentions GPS and navigation in the fine print. It's not in the features of the vehicle.

I thought all 4Runners came with the built in navigation. I actually thought you were speaking of some new Toyota add-on with a subscription plan much like their annual fee for remote start.

With the Apple car play, if you have a smartphone you won’t be using the factory GPS. Apple Music, Amazon music, and podcasts take the place of regular radio stations for me. I don’t even mess with satellite radio during the free trial. Am I the only one who doesn’t want anything to do with satellite radio?

I like my satellite radio. I also like not blowing through my cell phone data plan, too.

I like satellite radio and have used it for years. I use things like Spotify too but it always feels like work to find songs I like vs scanning through the Sirius stations with music I like and typically listen too.
First world difference of opinion lol.

2020 Nav and CarPlay losing calibration while driving - can't follow directions
Hi all,
I'm having a hard time with my 2020 Navigation system. It seems that the cursor gets "lost" too often. It is pretty much impossible to follow directions with it unless I'm driving in the freeway on the open road. The only way to follow directions driving in the city it's to unplug my phone from the CarPlay and follow the phone directions only.
It completely defeat the purpose of having a nav system.
My car it's at Toyota and they just told me that there's nothing they can do about it, that this is normal. I'm about to test-drive a new 4runner to see for myself that the same thing happen with all of them.
Please help me, have you experience anything like it?
I've driven multiple rental cars with carplay and nav and have never experience anything like it.
Thank you

I’m not sure about the issue your having. I plug my iPhone in and use my Apple Music and my google maps on the screen with no issue. I have a 2020 AG Pro.

Mine works fine with the phone plugged in. The Toyota nav system has given me real time traffic updates and alternate routes as a bonus. That function has come in handy three times now.

The Toyota Nav. Puts poi’s on the screen. I have not been able to do this with Apple Car Play without doing a search.

The navigation itself is poor. The overall headunit is substandard in both quality and function. I use Android auto 99% of the time. Infotainment is not one of toyotas strengths.

Not getting map updates?
My biggest issue with the 2020 Nav/multimedia system is that I am not getting map updates! Not even one!
I asked the dealer and he said that map updates would automatically be pushed to the unit as soon as they were available, yet I am still stuck with the ones that shipped from the factory - 05-69-50 (2019-04-0)!
When I try to do a manual update, I just get an error:
"It was not possible to complete the update. Please contact your dealer."
What version of maps do you guys have?
I saw a post from another 2020 4R owner that he has "05-70-00 [2019-10-0]", so I definitely know there are later updates to what I have!
Part of the issue might be because I am in Canada - seems like Toyota Canada is really backwards for pushing out updates for vehicles... I found a update for the multimedia system (not including maps) by browsing Toyota USA's website that doesn't even show up on the Canadian website...
Yeah, I know everyone always says, "Why do you use the built-in Nav anyway? Just use Google Maps!" but we are out of cell-phone coverage most of the time when we are in the mountains so the Google Maps don't really help unless I remember to load static ones ahead of time! Plus, I feel Toyota really ought to support what they sell!

Nothing beats out Google maps or Waze. I use Apple Car play and would never want to use any integrated navigation systems. Can't give u much feedback because I never use it.

2021 orp
I use Apple CarPlay and my wife uses Android Auto. We haven’t had any problems since purchasing the ORP in January. None of us use the Toyota GPS. As another member mentioned, buy a tempered glass screen protector for the touch screen ASAP.

Google Maps tells food delivery drivers my apartment is clear across the complex of several hundred units. Apple Maps draws the destination on the correct building.
I do like Google for the street view in-app.
