Some people won't want to pay more than the $10 for the Amazon door socks, and that's cool, but I suspect I'm not the only one who would pay for a more elegant solution.

No intentions to hijack. That’s just the way these discussions go, everyone gets excited about these ideas and sharing their finds, and going off topic into the weeds sometimes.
It’s interesting to see the loads of camping screen ideas and solutions in this forum. Like DIY window socks, magnets sewn around the perimeter of a sheet of screen material, cardboard or plywood framed screen inserts, just tucking screen fabric into the window frame, even using Home Depot screened gutter guards inserted between window top edge and the weather seal. And then there are all the various manufactured items for sale. Lots of cheapies from China and a few quality hand-sewn and assembled ones from the US. However there is a cost point to consider if selling items. In one of the window screen discussion threads last year Raingler introduced their latest product idea: mesh window socks billed as “mil-spec” strength material. The cost was $75 per pair. They looked nice and rugged and I’m sure they worked well but I don’t think they sold many. They don’t even offer them on their website anymore.
So, please carry on and keep posting about your progress and photos. You may wind up massaging your design based on the feedback comments here. I hope you’re successful with it. I like that they’re flexible; a rigid frame gets crunched if the window goes up too far too fast. It looks like a great quality idea and I may have to abandon my lovely HD gutter screens!
