I also notice it when driving down the road, it feels like a uJOINT is torquing and about to fall apart. I've gotten down and played around with the uJOINTS but haven't found much. I can replicate the issue when rapidly moving my steering wheel back and forth left to right like a crazy man. I can feel the thudding in the steering shaft, and hear a "knock" sound.
Where should I be looking, and what should I do? It's pretty annoying for an otherwise tank of a vehicle. It feels like the steering is so weak, and the steering shaft will just twist apart like a cheap breaker bar and come off in my hands.
Thanks!

If everything is snug in your front suspension setup I think the most likely suspect is the U-joint going bad on the lower steering shaft. Other than that it could be your steering rack or its bushings I would check there too.
