Baja Designs RTL-S

Hey guys, I just ordered a Baja Designs RTL-S. The plan is to mount it rear facing on the Prinsu. I was curious to know if anybody has mounted this light and can help with the simplest wiring to have all the features work correctly (running lights, turns, reverse, and brake). It seems like their would be a way to tap into the trailer harness but a search shows that is not a possibility. Any advice?

Are you sure it wouldn't work in the trailer plug? There's a write-up on Tundras and looks like they got it to work.

No, I'm not sure. I'll look on the Tundra forum. Seems I saw on the Taco forum it wouldn't work, but that was a couple weeks ago that I looked and perhaps i overlooked something.

For an RTL-S install, I would say most people tap into their 7 pin trailer connector with a high quality T-tap connector or cut and add a connector where you can insert two leads to each circuit. We're tapping into the running light, brake light, left turn signal, right turn signal, reverse light, and ground. From the information you found, what's the reasoning on why it doesn't work there? In theory, it should work because it's just power being triggered.

But don't all trailer hookups have turn signals as well? I'm not an electrical expert but it would seem to me that you'd be able to find a way to make it work.

I always assumed it would work. I'll have to go track down the info that said it wouldn't to see why.

grab a test light and start poking wires. otherwise the trailer harness will work, again, use a test light to identify which wire is which.
