Question Bullet Proof Fab

Hey all!

Newer member and I have a few questions.

First, I have yet to receive my 4Runner. I’m trading in a ‘17 Taco and the dealership expects mine to arrive between August 18th & 24th. That said, I’m already wanting to spend money on it much to my wife’s dismay...

I’ve been looking at Bullet Proof Fabs pet barrier. Has anyone used BPF’s pet barrier alone or even with their molle storage panels? I did a search and i didn’t find anyone using it. I’m thinking about BPF’s setup so I can use the molle system for off-roading/camping etc as well as for the dogs.

Are there any other systems/pet barriers I should be looking at?

Thanks for any and all input.

I use both and really like them. Though my dog is a non-issue (big malamute that doesn’t even try to climb over) I bought the barrier for safety to keep gear in the back since I tend to fill it up.

I even have a 2 gallon water Rotopax attached to one side with zero issues. Super convenient with a spigot

Thanks for the reply!

Are you running the pet barrier alone or with side panels as well?

Regarding your Rotopax, which mount did you use for the 2 gallon? Also, which spigot?

I have the BPF molle panels and I can honestly say I think they’re crap. I’ve had the orangeboxx previously and sold them to a buddy, then when they had COVID deals in March I ordered a set. For the life of me I cannot get either side to line up without digging into my trim pretty bad. They sent longer bolts and spacers to accommodate the larger trim for a 3rd row, but still doesn’t cut it. They are solid don’t get me wrong but after removing and retrying every possible variation of fitment for a few hours, I gave up and just dealt with it.. I’d stick with Orangeboxx, or Rago if I had to it over again (which I won’t.. haha)

Thanks for the review. This gives me pause now...I was about to puill the trigger and grab the panels and barrier. Now I just don't know.

3rd row is the issue in the above post.

Rago even states that theirs does not work with 3rd row
5th Gen Toyota 4Runner Modular Storage Panel System – Rago Fabrication

BPF does not, but they should. Mounting style and size are pretty much the same as Rago.

I have zero fitment issues and install was super simple.

I have had it for awhile and on rough terrain at low and higher speeds on backroads, no issues, no rattles, no loosening of anything.

Also love how I can lower a seat back with one knob for longer items

I think Rago products are excellent, I have a couple. The barrier sold me on BPF. The aluminum is nice, not concerned about weight or rust, but I like the fact I can drill into if I needed to modify them easily and no rust in the holes.

OP, I also added some soft foam rubber pads from Lowe’s under the corners of the Rotopax due to noise. Fixed the issue. If you zoom in you can see them. FYI

I know this thread has been dead for a little while, but for those of you with the BPF divider could you tell me if it’s easy/quick to take down if you wanted to put down the back seats and load something big in the back? I just got my first 4Runner (2021 ORP), switched from a Grand Cherokee with a Trav-All dog divider which was a major pain if I needed to take it down so I’m hoping to find something a little easier to put up/take down.
