The frame and mounting points haven't changed throughout the 5th gen run... so I imagine it will fit unless there are different rocker panels on the body of the 10-13 TE.

Hi looking at these OEM too. Do you know if there’s enough area to step onto? I just need to know how much it sticks out and if it will work as a step as well as a rockslider. Lastly, is it strong enough to be used with a hilift? Thank you.

@Viewfinder11 see post #180

If you’re looking for a slider that functions as a good step too I’d recommend checking out RSG metalworks in colorado. I have their flat top plate sliders and love them.

OEM Toyota Rock Rails, 5th gen

My fear with these was that my dog's foot would slip through. Not a problem. These are pretty tight to the body. I got them off CL for $300. Not sure if I like the way they look, but I will give them a couple weeks. They look OEM obviously and they will provide some protection for most of my needs.

If I'm understanding correctly from the pics these are held on by five 8mm 8.8 (12mm JIS) bolts? Sounds a little underwhelming.

There are only 5 bolts per side. Slamming the whole vehicle on a rock will probably be a bad situation, but I do my best to not play in the rocks so that doesn’t concern me much.

Just installed these today on a 2014 Trail Edition (non-KDSS) and can confirm-- center bolt on passenger side will not line up. The other 9 do with no issue. I'm guessing that's why Toyota says the rails are only backwards compatible through 2015.

Quoting an old post but I want to point something out.

If you feel like you might trash these, then order a quality slider to begin with. You're going to pay the same money (as the poster said), so why bother with installing, removing, ordering and installing a new set again when you can just have a quality set from the start and not worry?

They do work with KDSS, am not sure about the GX460 though.

My 21 TRDORP has the trail rails on them. Although they look really good, I am pulling them after 300 miles primarily because my wife is 5'2” tall and has to slide off the seat to get out of the vehicle. She says it's no big deal but it bothers me as I think it will wear on the seat bolster. That is at stock height and I think it will only get worse when I lift it in a few weeks. I just picked up a set of OEM predator steps from the dealer and will be swapping them this weekend. If anyone is in the Houston, TX area and wants to buy them, let me know. I'll be posting them to CL and our local classifieds as soon as they come off the vehicle.

As far as worrying about the Predator steps off road, I'll only be on light trails with the T4R. For more technical stuff, I have a 99 Jeep Wrangler TJ that I recently finished building. Well, never really finished but at least ready to use.

Regarding the question of using the trail rails as steps, that won't work. They are too tight to the body to function as any kind of step.

Has anyone tried using these as a high jack point? I know they supposedly don't look strong but I'm curious if anyone has tried? Pics would be awesome.
Thanks,
Shawn
