Thanks for the heads up on these, OP!

Grabbed them from a local dealer and installed them yesterday afternoon.

They're exactly what I wanted: low profile, steel, frame-mounted. Can't beat the price at $400 either!

this.

the car is designed to crumple to absorb the maximum amount of force before the collision gets to the passenger compartment. buying sliders/bumpers/etc because you want to have a "stronger car" for a collision is the least safe move.

the only reason the xterra mentioned above came out fine was because the other car crumpled as designed. had a car with a bumper hit the xterra you'd have never known that the xterra even had sliders.

Does your 4runner have KDSS?

The parts site doesn't say if it will fit but I've seen one with KDSS and the rock rails on the Toyota inventory site so thinking they might.

Mine does not have KDSS.

I will say that they were a pretty tight fit in the rear given what I assume are brake lines of some sort.

How’s everyone’s sliders holding up? More Pics?
I’m terribly on the fence in these. And the price difference is huge compared to anything else. Can’t get a set painted shipped for less than almost $800

Has anyone attempted to install these OEM rails on a KDSS equipped 4Runner? I read the entire discussion and didn't see a definitive answer.

I must decide by tomorrow whether to order them installed on my new Offroad Premium. They're a dealer-installable option in the Mountain States region.

Thanks.

I wouldn't sweat it if you have to buy them at a later date. They're pretty easy to install and I am not handy / mechanically inclined at all.

I ordered a set today as well, all because I got on the internet yesterday.
I don’t need 800-900 sliders for what I do and these should work fine.

This is the thread that encouraged me to create an account on your wonderful site, just to say thank you.

I have a new 2021 TRD Pro and was a few clicks away from ordering a set of rock sliders for around $900, +shipping costs, and multiple week delivery time. And then I found this thread.

Called my dealer and he had the rock sliders for me the next day. 45 minute solo install...some of that was trying to find my tools.

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for the tip!

Is there a reason why Toyota's OEM rock rails always are so tucked in?

The ones that came with my and my daughter's FJCs were also stuffed so close to the body they were of little use.

I got proper kick out sliders from AVID Off Road locally for about 420 bucks. Would have been neat if these came with my 42k truck that said off road on the side tho.

I had the shrockworks and hated them. They stuck out way too far. I prefer the tucked in look. These might be decent for light protection.

N fab steps will not fit

FYI, the n fab steps will not fit these 4runner Oem rock rails. I bought a pair to try since they fit my fj Oem rock rails.
