Just installed this system. Ordered the raw steel version and did a 4 coat rattle can paint job with sanding in between coats.
This setup is expensive but completely solved a big problem for me and my family when camping/road tripping, which we do a lot. I mounted the shelf as low as possible while still maintaining enough clearance to open my Dometic enough to get food and drinks out. I’ll be able to lower it more still once I get a fridge slide.
For what it’s worth, I’ve tried my best to make the OEM cargo slide work but it’s just not compatible with what we do. With a wife and two kids there’s just too much stuff in the rear and it all falls down in the empty space when you pull the slide out. Eventually I’ll get a slide just for the Dometic and call it a day.
For now, keeping tools, small kitchen gear, a whole lot of shoes and a few other bits on the shelf. Once I get some time to organize it I’ll be able to strap more stuff to the molle panels but the big sell is the shelf for sure. It’s a pain to install and it’s expensive but it works perfectly.
We still need the cargo box for all of our camping gear but I’m hoping with some more organization I might be able to settle on one of those narrower cargo boxes.
Also a little plug for Adventure Tool Company who make the perfect kitchen organizer bag. It’s like the Blue Ridge Overland one but much bigger with more space and looks good too.
