Headlights not shutting off

twice I have noticed the headlights stay on after I exited and locked my car. Over a minute, lights were still on.

Anybody else deal with this?

Thanks.

Check your door to see if its actually locking. My driver door actuator went out and as a results my lights stayed on for a bit

On my 2020 with the lights in the auto on position if I exit the vehicle with the ignition off and leave any door open say to unload cargo the headlights stay on indefinitely until I shut that door I have yet to figure out how to program them to shut off after 30 seconds or so. If I close all the doors After shutting off the vehicle the lights turn off as programmed in settings which in my case is 30 seconds. This to me is a weird quirk.

FYI you can reprogram this with Carista or Techstream. Mine are set to go off as soon as drivers door opens... much more usable IMO.

No issues. I turn them off with the headlight switch.

Do you lights have an auto function, or this just when they are switched on? In my 2017 the lights seem to go off even if I leave the switch on, but I haven't trusted it enough to leave the switch always on...

I normally turn the headlights off after shutting off but my daylight running lights are on so double click just turns them off.

Yes, it’s behaving normally. Otherwise turn the the switch to auto.

I will add, my headlights do automatically go off after a minute.
I had to try it.
My previous vehicle (which I still drive) is a 1968 F100 without all the fancy bells and whistles.
On the rare occasions I do lock the 4runner I use the key, not the button on the key. Old habits.
I wish the 4runner had crank windows. They'll stop working one day, while the windows on the 68 will still be going up and down. Just not from 50 feet away.
