A750F if your 4Runner is 4wd, A750E if it's 2WD... I believe those are the correct designations for 4WD vs. 2WD... think it's just the tail housing which is different.

Got it, is this the same exact model as 2nd gen Tacoma's? I've been contemplating getting an early 5th gen (before that...weird face lift) but I absolutely hated the transmission in the 2nd gen tacoma. Was a slush box lol

These are kind of slushy. I had a '10 Trail and now a '20 ORP. Not anything like a modern automatic you will find in almost anything else.

Transmission is bomb proof. Even Scotty Kilmer things so.

I made a good living at one time, rebuilding mostly Ford automatic transmissions.
I appreciate the reliability of the Aisin A750 transmission, even if it doesn't have 10 ratios.

Trust me, anything over 5 gears just is silly to me. You spend all of your time shifting like crazy. Can't stand grandma's new car for that reason. Shift shift shift shift. Lol

I'll second that. A340f is a great transmission. I have the original in my 3rd Gen with over 400k.

The 8AT 850RE in the '20 Rubicon is fantastic in terms of performance. It is smart, smooth, doesn't go hunting for gears like the 4Runner, 200ms shifts almost like a DSG. But FCA builds theirs at a Chrysler facility and they apparently break. The German built ones are supposed to very solid though.
