Ditch Light Bracket Comparison

Just a quick photo and personal comparison of 3 different ditch light brackets for anyone that may be interested. I have accumulated and used all of them over the last couple years.

Rago: Far Left - The Rago is a nice design, but sits a little too high for my personal preference.

CBI: Center - The CBI is much lower in profile, but did not sit flush when the hood is closed. The plastic beneath needs to be cut or heated and then re shaped.

SDHQ: Far Right - Winner, winner chicken dinner (for me anyhow). Very low profile. Awesome powder coating, and fits very snug, without the need for any trimming or modification.

Again, just my personal opinion that may help someone else. I only recently discovered SDHQ, and have been extremely happy with the few products I have bought from them - all very high in quality and design.

Great post OP. I've been trying to get this information for a while but it has never been compiled so well.

Thanks for posting this!

I hadn't heard about SDHQ until now and one thing I noticed is that you don't need to pull the back of the front fender off to install the bracket. This is a huge plus for me.

Great comparison! I wasn't even aware that SDHQ made ditch brackets.

I will second the SDHQ ditch brackets. I have them installed on my car as well and love that it was a straight bolt on with no modifications. They are pricier than the other brackets on the market but worth it in my opinion.

I love the looks of these SDHQ brackets, question for you: with such low profile brackets, do they glare off the hood more than others? or do you ever notice that issue?

I couldn't tell you since I use my lights as ditch lights so they are pointed off to the side and not forward facing. I have a 20" S8 light bar with spot lens in the upper griller and the squadron pro for fogs plus I have a bumper coming in and will be adding a 30" light bar to the bumper as well so thats enough forward facing light for me. I use my ditch lights for when I am driving on Country roads at night and want to avoid running over critters and what not.

I hear ya, I currently have cali-raised brackets pointed pretty far outwards and I am not too happy with the hood glare I still get. also they're about as tall as a giraffes neck, cant stand it, they shake quite a bit. thanks!

I was wondering if you have any driver side and passenger side pics of where the hood plastic meets the brackets?

Thanks,

Kenn

I think you are going to get glares anytime you put lights over the hood especially those of us with darker colors. Matte black on the hood is usually a good fix and not super expensive. As for as the shaking goes, the SDHQ ones are solid and do not move at all. The powder coat on them is very good as well compared to some of the other brackets I've seen. I have a set of CBI brackets lying around that I never used because I didn't like the idea of having to mod the hood cowl for them to work.

Do the SDHQ ones sit far enough to the side that it is not an eyesore when driving? The cali raised/ Rago ones are just no good since it sits too far in. CBI seems to have better side offset compared to the rest of them but requires some trimming.

I have the Rago Fab ditch light brackets and will probably buy the low profile mount to bring them down.
