Was out hunting over the past week and things were fine. On the last day was going to leave and come home and car started up fine but no throttle. I messed with the plug on the TB and it worked for a few min getting me out of the area, then it died again leaving me stranded in the middle of nowhere. My friend towed me to the nearest town and we camped out there for a night and then i rented a uhaul and towed myself home. Car idles fine and does not throw any codes, just did not have any throttle.

Yesterday I took apart the intake system, cleaned the intake pipe, cleaned MAF, cleaned TB and found that there is a small vent hole near the bottom of the TPS. I sprayed electronics cleaner into that vent hole and let everything dry then put back together. Started up car a few times and it seems to be running fine now at least the few times I tried it. Previously it would work for a couple mins every few startups.

I am assuming that the throttle actuator may have been dirty or had some type of moisture compromise it internally. I am still changing it as I do not want to be stranded like that again 300 miles from home and 70 miles from a gas station. Ordered the new AFE 76mm TB to replace it and also changing out the gas pedal just in case it could be a problem with the pedal position sensor too. Small price to pay for safety. I am glad it did not fail while I was offroading on some steep cliffs during that week as well.

Mine didn't go out, but I did replace it with the AFE TB and I'm very happy with it

Thanks! Hopefully this should fix my issue and maybe get a small power bump from it as well. Did you notice any differences from stock?

Yeah it definitely increases throttle performance and paired well with my AFE Intake and ECU tune

Thanks! I have a magnuson with custom tune and TRD intake so hopefully it will provide even more improvement. I figured why not since I need to replace it anyway!

BTW did you have any CEL's or issues? or was it literally plug and play and runs like stock?

Nope, no CEL's or issues. It does idle a bit higher at startup as is mentioned in their directions, but truck runs fine with it

Thanks! i did figure out that its a tundra 5.7 TB with an adapter plate so i plan to order a cheap non-OEM one and carry it in the OEM jack location after my failure leaving me stranded. They seem to be pretty cheap to buy online and its small enough to tuck in there.

Yep that's all it is, with the SC I think you'll really see a nice improvement Not a bad idea to carry a spare lol

I think between the cold, salt, dirt and moisture out here it compromised the motor connection in the TB so though it is an odd part to carry it was a catastrophic failure for me.
