I'm worried the these update headlights will only draw more attention to those outdated looking DRL lights now!
I feel the same way about those lower lights. They need updating now. Luckily the fogs can be changed easily, but not the DRL/Turn housing.

So much this ^^^. The big rectangles looks so dated. Shame there isn't an integrated housing option for both the turn signals and aux lights. Not sure how much DOT-ness you have to consider as well?

That’s obviously different than our factory bulbs.
Just wondering if I can use my LED H11’s in these. It doesn’t look like it from their pictures.
Anyone have pictures of the rear of the housings?

These look FANTASTIC. Finally an option for 2010-2013 4Runners.

Anyone have pics for the chrome version installed? Wondering what it would look like on my limited...

I ended up ordering a set of black LED tail lights from Spyder yesterday. I'll make a post about those once I get them and install them.

Here are the pictures that they emailed me since they don't have any online yet.

I plan on swapping out my retro fitted HID headlights for a set of the black housing Sypder ones pretty soon.
I am tired of messing with the HID setup since, seems the projectors rotated a little and need some adjustment.

Photos on a white limited

So I just installed these lights on a 2012 Limited. My motivation was to update the dated look and mimic the newer limited. Took me 2-3 hours to install.

Robert at Spyder was fairly responsive. Price was decent but most of my headaches were with UPS.

Getting them shipped to Canada was annoying because there are surprise brokerage fees of $41 on top of the UPS shipping costs. So shipping and brokerage fees was almost half of the price of the lights. Also UPS lost my package and eventually relocated it after several phone calls and that delayed shipment by another week.

I really like the look of the headlights. At first I was wondering if i should go for the all chrome or the black version of the sypder lights. I eventually picked the black version and was super glad I did. The black colour gives it more contrast to see the details of the modern light design. It helps refresh the front. I also installed aftermarket taillights to mimic the newer 4Runners and changed the wheels to have the black outline.

I installed it outdoors in 2 degrees celsius weather and prior to installation the headlights were sitting at room temperature in my home. After installation there was some hazy condensation inside both headlights (see close up photos). I checked again next morning and i don’t see the condensation but i definitely will keep an eye on that.

In terms of installation, pealing the bumper off was the most annoying. I was yanking on the black bumper bracket instead of carefully unhooking the bumper from that bracket (pay attention to unhooking the top screw hole of the three screws you are supposed to remove from the wheel well... see photo). i ended up damaging the bumper bracket. I saw videos where people were saying to yank on it hard and i did and i regretted that.

Also make sure the polarity of the spyder LED side parking lights is correct before putting the car back together. There is a 50/50 chance that it’s the wrong way and need to plug the light bulb adapter in the opposite orientation.

I took some photos and hope it will help others decide if this is the light for them.

Cheers!

Thank you for this write up. You answered 2 of 3 main questions I was wondering. Also got prices from Robert to ship to Canada but was still curious of the customs charges.
Also wanted to see some pictures on a white 4R, so that helped.
Did you use the supplied bulbs for the low beams?

Glad it helped. I did use the supplied spyder bulbs. Like others have mentioned the output of the light is not significantly different from the stock bulbs. My only concern is the life span of the spyder LEDs (ie. amber side marker and the white accent glowing bar). These seem to not be user replaceable and if these LEDs die then I believe the entire headlight assembly needs to be replaced. See photo of the backside as it looks the LEDs (powered by the green and black wires) are inaccessible. For this reason, I am keeping my stock headlights as backup.

Always ask if they'll ship via USPS or use a freight forwarding service like MSO or similar. Brokerage fees are a joke.

Good tip. I will look into this. I typically ship items to a 24 hour mailbox in Point Roberts, WA and drive it back to Canada myself. But with COVID border closures, it is worthwhile to review these other options you mentioned. Thanks!

That is one of the nice things about living in the lower mainland. The Montana border is a long haul from Edmonton however, so I've been forced to rely on the USPS

Anyone "tested" these with LED or HID bulbs? I'm still waiting on solid evidence of the unicorn version 2.0 release.

I'm running hid's in mine. The projectors are cheap so the light output is not much different than halogens. These lights just look cool. Light output is not much of an upgrade.
