Dual swing rear bumper

Feeling a bit stuck. Have been thinking about a rear bumper for a while mainly for clearance and carrying gear to free up the trunk and roof for trips. Currently have a wilco that I have modified so it even has a camp table.

Would love to get the hefty but it doesn't accommodate the gobi ladder and I do use my ladder. Love the weight savings and not doing much Rock bashing. I think its the weight of the steel ones that keeps me from just pulling the trigger. Already have so much added weight (roof rack, sliders, skids, rear drawers). Currently drives well with pedal commander, trd intake and exhaust. Worried about another 200 pounds.

The others that work with a ladder that I know of are the c4 and cbi. Wanting a camp table and storage for rotopax and hi lift.

Any others that I am missing or other thoughts or insights? If there are good sales this fall I will likely pull the trigger on something. Just feel like nothing fits what I want 100% so its hard to commit to something that expensive but I also don't want to wait forever.

LFD Off-Road should be on your list as well

LFD Dual Swing Rear Bumper

It works with the Gobi ladder, is ridiculously stout, and easily carries the hi-lift, fuel/water containers of your choice, a table, etc,

Additionally, for your weight savings, you can pop either of the swing arms (or both) off and run it as just a bare bumper. It literally takes minutes to pop either of the arms off.

Was highly considering it (they are in my backyard and I've bought from them before. Great company!), there is a camp table you can get but it fits on the driver side. Apparently the table won't fit with the ladder unfortunately. Haven't explored if the table will fit on the passenger swing arm.

Ahh I didn't consider that, you're right, the ladder and table would occupy the same space. I've measured my passenger side for a smaller custom table, and it would be quite straight forward, IIRC, a 12"x12" would fit easily (piece of aluminum sheet, some hinges, hardware, etc from Amazon).

For what it's worth, mine carries the tire, hi-lift, and jerry can holder (no jerry cans) on a daily basis. It also has my WeBoost antenna, rear camera relocation, and a set of 4 tri colored LED lights (Brake/Turn, Dust, Reverse) that shine through the LFD logos in each swing arm.

The ride height changed slightly (I had Dobinsons C59-327 springs before the bumper, I've since upped that to 329s) but I don't think the driving characteristics change that significantly with the additional weight.

The lights are a nice touch! I was ready to pull the trigger especially when I saw orange boxx makes a table for it but the passenger table is likely too small. Too bad as I would love to support a local company. Leaves me with c4 and cbi. If c4 did powdercoat I'd probably order but don't feel like dealing with an extra step. Maybe if the cbi goes on sale or if hefty decides to accommodate the Gobi ladder.

I have a local friend who has the CBI on his, with fold down tables on both sides. He has a C4 ladder on his truck and apparently had to have the rear bumper custom built (there was a slight upcharge for this) to fit the ladder; not sure if it is the same for the Gobi or not. I can say that in about 7 months of having that bumper on his truck he noticed the cables from the tables often rub on the ladder and have been wearing off the powdercoat on the ladder in a few spots; he's since replaced the cables with custom made aluminum flat-stock (a few hours of work and a trip to Lowe's for supplies)

Good to know. Thanks for the info!

Why not buy a Coastal Offroad kit and have it built the way you want? Any shop with an inkling of fab skills could mod it to your specs for the same price as one of those fancy 2500-3k bumpers. I have about $650 shipped in my rear bumper, but I welded it myself and fabbed the swingouts. I still need to finish the ladder/cooler mount on the Driver's side, just undecided how I want it.

Thought about it. Some good options there.. Have heard some concerns about the hinges. Hard because it adds an extra step of getting someone to build it then still have to get somewhere to powdercoat and install. Some of these can order straight to my local shop and they can install. I did my own front bumper but don't have the time energy or help to do the rear.

I would not buy their hinges/swingout kit personally, I don't feel like it has the value for the price. I just used regular 2x2 square tube from my local steel supply, a RuffStuff mount plate, some Destaco clamps from Amazon, and 4xInnovations hinges. Mine is painted with Rustoleum Hammered paint with a paint brush. I think you'll save money and have something that is unique and checks all the boxes. I originally used poly engine bushings and fabbed up my own brackets/gussets as I had them on the shelve, but they had way too much play in them so I upgraded to the 4x setup. Which is about the best money can buy that I've seen for this style swingout.

Ended up ordering the C4 dual swing. Really wanted aluminum for weight, but wasnt going to happen and tired of waiting for a "perfect" bumper.

-Wanted dual swing
-Needed to work with gobi ladder (not many options do)
-Camp table
-Maxtrax/rotopax mount
-Basically comes with everything

Downsides-doesnt come powdercoated. Luckily I ordered through my local shop @apex_overland, and they are going to take care of all of that and do the install.
-15 week wait! (plus more for powdercoat and install)

Feels good to just be done and in the waiting phase.

I do have a dual swing Hefty that is less than a couple months old that I would be willing to part with. I waited for 4 months for it and I am going in a different direction. I bought mine with the ladder option. I had a c4 ladder but sold it and went with the hefty ladder. Let me know if you have any interest.
