I thought that LED don't project out very far, i.e. brighter but only close up to the vehicle. Also I've heard that driving in rain and snow is harder with LEDs.

Most likely going to need drivers and gosh knows what cable setup. I doubt it's plug and play.

LEDs dont work well when they are used in a projector designed for halogens. Different story if LEDs are used in a properly designed one.
Regardint snow, I believe thats because halogen puts out more IR so it keeps the headlights from frosting over.

FWIW I've had cars with factory LED headlights (mk7.5 gti) and they had no issues freezing over and it was driven through many blizzards, including the thick heavy wet snow that builds up. They also were comparable to my xenon cars (factory and retrofitted).

Yeah, I have no issues with the LEDs on my MK7.5 Golf R.

Honestly,
all the videos I saw with led bulbs or whole led projectors do not focus the light further than the oem halognes do.
They give you more light near by, but the furthest is not very good, also they have blind spots on the sides.
I have another brand new car with OEM LED, and really I am not very impressed with the lights for the same reason.
I think halogens are better overall.

Here is a vid with some output pictures (not great but gives an idea).
It also confirms that the LED is low beam only, high beam being still halogen, and that the DRL is the high beam at reduced output (except for Limited and TRD Pro).

I think the limited or pro will have the same halogen DRL setup but with a biled projector it will look and operate the exact same but with the high beam coming from the LED projector instead of the halogen reflector.

If Toyota would update their parts.toyota.com website with their 2021 stuff we could probably be able to see what that connects to

Hey everyone, new member and first post here. I got my 2021 Limited 2 weeks ago and can confirm on the Limited that the High/Low beam is in the same housing with the DRL being halogen still. I'll try to take some pictures this week so you can see the output. This is the first 4runner I've ever driven, so I can't comment on the output vs halogen, but I'm pleased enough.

2021 LED headlight pics
Hi Everyone,
Here are a couple pictures of the 2021 full LED headlights. Hope this clears up some questions that everyone has.
1. Low Beam with fogs
2. High beams
3. Cutoff lines (less than 15 ft from my garage door)
4-5. Lights lit up, but not the best pictures. Note the LED illuminates where the DRL bulb is, but that's actually still a halogen bulb that has the standard yellow hue to it.
5. Driver side light.

How would you describe the headlight performance? If you've had other cars with HID/LED headlights, or if you've had aftermarket HIDs in halogen projectors previously, how would they compare?
They look pretty decent from the pictures, certainly better than the previous halogens.
