Just picked a 2022 4Runner. First thing I noticed is these led headlights get super bright whenever the road is not flat. My wife was driving the 4Runner behind me and I’m in a Nissan Rogue. Every changes to the road surface and those led are blinding me. Super annoying. Can’t imagine what the oncoming drivers are thinking. On the bright side (LOL), they light up the road nicely.

For those that are wondering, it is possible to get the halogens to function as a high beam. i just did it tonight on my 2022. I didn’t take any pictures but Ill try to explain it as best I can. Im sure there are better ways to do this but this is what I did and it worked.
I disconnected the factory Wiring to the halogen bulbs and plugged in a 9005 pigtail on each bulb. You can find these on Amazon or at your local parts store.
I then connected the wires together on the pig tails. Extend both the positive and negative wires from the passenger side and run it to the driver side. Twist both positive wires together and insert into one end of butt connector and crimp it. Twist both negative wires together and insert into one end of a separate butt connector and crimp.
Next find the headlight harness. Its to the left of the halogen bulb. Youll see a plug with three wires. Black, white and black, and blue. Use a vampire tap and connect it to the black wire.
I then wired in a relay
Pin 30 goes to battery (don’t forget to use an inline fuse)
Pin 85 goes to ground.
So find the negative wire from the pig tail. There should still be one end of the butt connector where a wire can be crimped. Run a wire from pin 85 to the other end of that butt connector. Dont crimp it yet. Next Find a suitable ground and run that wire to the butt connector. Twist both these wires together, insert into the butt connector and crimp.
Pin 86 goes to the vampire tap attached to the black wire in headlight harness
Pin 87 goes to the other end of the butt connector attached to the positive wires from pig tail.
If you were able so somehow understand my instructions, your halogen bulbs should come on when you activate the high beams.

I had to adjust my buddies OEM LED housings down a bit as well. Seems as though they're aimed too high from the factory, at least his was.

Yea, I’m going to have to do something. It was very distracting. Any other vehicle was ok except for the 4Runner.

I'm one happy guy after installing some ORP LED low/halogen highs on my 2017. I had tried some drop in LED bulbs in the stock housing before and they were lousy.

could you post a picture with the fog lights you have too both views looking out and oncoming. Congrats on the upgrade to LED, one of the best upgrades I did. Next one is hopefully the OEM head unit in the 2017 but that might take some extra work.

Very easy install, it took maybe 30 minutes if that and that was taking my time. Removing the front bumper is simple and headlights are just a few screws. If doing I would recommend installing LED fog lights as well. Would recommend marking off the current headlight cut off light height from about 20-25 ft and use that a marker to set the LED height.
There is a DIY on the pin swap in this forum to help with install.

It's pretty easy, I didn't completely remove the front bumper because I have a hidden winch mount and didn't want to remove the fairlead. I recommend completely removing the bumper. 4 wheel well screws per side (?), unplug fogs from below, pull the bumper off. 4 more screws per side to remove the headlight assemblies. Remove the connector from all 4 housing, then attach the 2017 connectors to the 2021 housings (no splicing/wiring). Plug the new headlights in to make sure they work before reassembly. If they don't, switch the two wires in the connector and try again.
Yes that video is good. DRLs still work.

Diode Dynamics SS3 Sport yellow fogs. The sports have a good amount of usable light as fog lights, if you're looking for something to really project the light, I'd recommend Pro/Max and a different beam pattern.

Best upgrade to the Runner. I purchased a new set of 21 led headlights from a member that had the halogen drl/hb and upgraded connector. I think he got them from someone who converts them in Colorado. I installed them and transferred my xenon depot led hb with drl drivers and they have been perfect! Also installed oem led fogs and work great and all match.

thanks for the pictures, Im debating it still. Would probably be pro white color one to match headlights. I leave them on all the time, how was aiming them?

You can always swap lens colors, although a bit expensive at $60 a pair. Aiming is simple enough. You loosen one allen head bolt on each side of the housing (reach from underneath), aim it, and retighten both bolts. Repeat for other light. I leave mine on all the time as well.
