We all did but at least you got Apple car play. Swapping in 2021 Oem headlights are super easy and cheap.

2020 plus head units can be retrofitted with a harness for plug and play. Its been solid so far in the 2017 model.

recommendations for 2012 LED headlight assembly?
I want to replace my OEM, prefer LED but can live with halogen. There are so many options... is there a consensus here on which ones are quality? I'd rather spend $250, willing to spend $500. TIA

My OEM are fine, as OEM go. I'd just like an LED aftermarket, or at least HID. The ones on FB are OEM.

you can find OEM led headlights from $100-400 range , its just a pin swap at the connection for plug and play. Think oem led started either in 2020 or 21 its a nice upgrade.

Hi all,
Just wanted to confirm my TLDR summary of the simpler upgrade options for my 2014 halogens (I did read the whole thread - just wanting to make sure).
- Find 2021 headlights, swap the connector, plug and play, and now you have LED low beam, halogen high beam.
- Find 2022+ headlights, swap the connector, don't activate the shutter, plug and play, and now you have LED low beam, halogen high beam, though the high beam may not be the same as traditional because of a different reflector.
Not interested in getting involved with the LED high beams at this point.
Do I have the above right? Those who have used 22+ headlights with the halogen high beam, do you find that the high beam is less effective than traditional? DO the 22+ headlights come equipped with the same high beam bulb in the halogen location?
I've been watching Facebook Marketplace for a while and have not come across any reasonably priced LED versions yet. Is there a way to determine from pictures if the headlights are LED? Sellers can be vague at times about the year the headlights come from.
Thanks!

How long does the 2021 and newer led low beams last for the oem headlights? From my understanding the low beams are sealed.

Just received some 2021 OEM LEDs I bought on eBay for $160 ea. I kept a close eye on listings until someone posted this set in good condition. One light has a partially broken tab that I'm planning to fix with a hot stapler and plastic welder. I also picked up the FSB harnesses w/o shutter for $35 to avoid having to mess with the wiring.
Separately, anyone have advice for how to test these to make sure they are fully functional without pulling the whole front end and grill apart? Will the existing wiring and harnesses reach if I just lay these things on a moving blanket on the engine?

might be able to reach it.....removing bumper and install &
reinstall took maybe 30 minutes the first time

Wow, lots of information to digest here, lol. I just picked up a pair of 2023 housings from a 2023 TRD Pro. I plan to retrofit them in my 2014, I wish someone made a harness to easily do the swap without messing with any wiring to just make this easy! For now, I guess the headlights will just sit in the back of my 4Runner until I have the time to try to digest 50 pages of information, lol.

Somebody did. Get the FBC quad-beam harness and bolt them up in an afternoon.
