I been seeing more 2021 4 runner led headlights recently on the road and I must say, they look super sick and oem. I can’t see why anybody would want to get rid of their 2021 Oem headlights for some Morimoto or Alpharex lights.....

Well, on the cheap aftermarket leds or HIDs. You can tell they don’t belong and produces massive glare or they aren’t bright enough.

Yes, they look pretty slick, but they don't perform all that well. Of course I'm spoiled. I came out of a 2014 Tacoma that had what's called "The Ultimate Headlight Upgrade" over in TacomaWorld.com. It's quite possibly the best lighting one can get and not bother oncoming drivers. Utterly amazing. Coming into the 4Runner was a rude awakening. At least the rest of it is pretty awesome.

I'm upgrading the lighting on my new 4Runner as we speak and will put together a post on what I liked (not much) and didn't like (the fogs and high beams) about the OEM lighting as well as what I did about it soon.

LED High Beam was my first upgrade

I was about 10' from a wall when I pulled put the incandescent 9005 bulb and replaced it with A Headlight Revolution LED retrofit. The color match was much better, the patter was not perfict but the true test is some night driving.

I did note there is a difference in the output, about 50% less, in the daytime running light mode, but you can see the strobe effect. Kinda like someone welding without a curtain.

Nobody cares about the highbeams much as the lowbeam is the most important thing for driving.

If you have a good output lowbeam, there is no need for highbeams. I don’t even need mine after converting to a 2021 Oem led headlights.

You should try it!
Agreed. I moved from a 2019 Tacoma, the difference is truly eye opening. I can't believe how much brighter then 2021 LED's are on my SR5, they're absolute flamethrowers.

Cheers

I can’t imagine somebody getting rid of the 2021 Oem headlights for some crappy output aftermarket ones that won’t last as long..... lol 😆

Hey everyone. Just finished the headlight swap and made this video to help anyone that might be on the fence or waiting to get the already swapped halogen connector mod on the 2021 headlights. The changeover from 2021 LED plug to halogen plug is very simple. Bought a pair of 2021 LED headlights from McGeorge Toyota for $1332.50.

If I may ask, what are the part numbers for the 2021 headlights? Also, how do you like them compared to the Halogens?

Can you not buy Toyota Electrical connectors? I know when I used to be an Rx7 owner and wrench every day DIY'er to keep it running in my youth, everything single thing was available for order as a parts via Mazda dealership. This was then for a 20 year old car, and if not instock in North American it was 3 month wait to get.

I posted the part numbers in the description of the video. Compared to halogens these are night and day. Compared to the drop-in Morimoto’s I had in the halogen housings these are night and half a day difference. The biggest thing I noticed with the OEMs was the field of vision is much wider and there is more useable light across the road.
