New Owner, New Member - Help w. Rust question

Link to images: Imgur: The magic of the Internet

Hello all - I've scoured the forums and previous searches for a while, but being new to the vehicle I am having trouble 100% identify my problem.

Just bought this 2010 SR5 and although the rest of the frame is good, the skid plate??? is rusted really bad.

This vehicle originated in Florida, so no salt on the roads, but perhaps some ocean air residue contributed. Not sure why it is so focused on this part or piece.

1) is this the skid plate?
2) any ideas why rust focus is there?
3) replacement recommendations (more of a daily driver / camp trips...not hardcore off road).

Thank you so much for any all input and advice.

Wow yea looks like your front skid plate. If no off-roading and all I’d just look for a used non rusted one. Guys give these away all the time for free.

I will second that. I've seen a few of them like that. We got one from a salvage yard to replace the one on my son's Tacoma. Once they get scratched, they rust pretty regularly. We would just hit his with some flat back spray paint when ever he scratched the replacement.
