I'm liking the MGM here. I just ordered their puddle lights but haven't installed them yet

I probably should've gone for a lighter silver/grey color to match the interior more. It's only $20, I can always try another color down the road.

If you don't mind buying a new set of adhesive, you could try painting the overlay.

Yeah, but the sharpie will wear off.

I used a Sharpie almost 2 years ago. Still looks good.
I think it blends in with the gloss black trim on both sides of the steering wheel.

2 years? Dang, that's holding up good. I wish I went with a Sharpie now.

Well, 19 months. My 4Runner is black just like my previous 2001. I always keep a couple different size permanent Sharpie’s in my console to fix exterior scratches. Faster and easier than touch up paint with better control. There is a little wear in the upper left edge of the emblem so I will just touch it up. If AJT or Meso made one in a gloss black I would consider it. I put these black wood overlays on my door handles. BTW, if you look close at the end of the handle where it pivots, there is a slight gap, so that it has clearance to open due to the handle overlays. I used a Sharpie in those 4 locations also.

The handle overlays look nice. Got a link to the vendor?

Thanks.A little pricey. Was thinking about wrapping with electrical tape and even a Sharpie again, lol, but decided to give these a try. The finish matches the metallic paint well. The gap is a minor issue and as I stated in my post I filled it in with a Sharpie. Overall, I like them. Much better and less noticeable than the chrome.

I’m wondering what kind of Sharpie you guys are using to get good results on a smooth shiny metallic surface.
When I tried a standard Sharpie it looks like crap. And if smears right off, especially with any kind of cleaning solution.

I don’t use any cleaning solutions besides a very lightly damp cloth when wiping down my interior. You can also try a double coat with the Sharpie, but, the next day. It isn’t the perfect solution. For the door handles where the gap is, using touch up paint or electrical tape would hold up better against cleaning solutions. As for the steering wheel overlay, if they made it in gloss black I would buy one. Otherwise, painting the overlay or the one on the steering wheel would be a better option.
