Meso Customs steering wheel Toyota overlay "review"
So not really a full review or anything, but after another user on this forum posted theirs (in the daily thread I think, sorry that I can't remember who), I knew I had to order one.
One thing that annoys me is having an entire interior devoid of any "chrome", only to have one spot of it on the steering wheel. Which then becomes really annoying with the sunroof open and the glare beaming into your eyeballs. I understand the "why" of Toyota's decision to use the standard emblem, but I don't have to like it.
So here's the solution Steering Wheel Cover - Logo
– MESO CUSTOMS LLC
There's quite a few colors to choose from. The product was very well packaged, in a very sturdy box. I have zero complaints so far. I will warn you though, when you go to pull the sicker part off the adhesive backing, take your time. I almost pulled the adhesive off the overlay.
[I have no idea why my pictures are rotated]

I also have the MESO logo cover. I see that the black colored one is sold out already. That happens a lot, you have to act quickly with MESO items.
AJT designs has similar covers for sale, they cost $5 more than MESO.

Yes and no. AJT is listed as $5 more but they don't charge shipping like Meso does. So once you factor that in they are nearly the same price. Meso might come in a few cents cheaper.

What color is that one? Black or MGM? I just ordered the MGM color since all my exterior emblems are a similar color already.

Pretty sure I ordered MGM (to match my 4R, but it’s pretty dark IMO)

That actually makes the steering wheel look cheaper. Like a 90’s truck where the logo was just molded in the rubber like material that is the horn button and airbag cover.
Ill pass.

I got the AJT version because of pure practicality reasons. It doesn't really matter to me how it looks. As long as it's covering up the chrome which might blast into my eyes, it can look like a total turd.

I ordered one in MGM also after reading the other post. I was OK with the touch of chrome, but the sun glare with the moonroof open was unbearable if you got the wrong angle. The picture doesn’t do it justice, it looks decent. I agree... the packaging is way overdone. No chance of this getting damaged in shipping.

Yeah, the packaging is like getting a new iPhone. I hate to throw it away.

Exactly. I will admit, the wheel does look cheaper with the darker logo. Perhaps if I went with a contrasting or brighter color it would help, but I didn't want it to look like I was "trying too hard" lol. I just don't want to be blinded.
I probably should've gone for a lighter silver/grey color to match the interior more. It's only $20, I can always try another color down the road.

Thinking a black Sharpie permanent marker would work for less $.
If nothing else it would make me feel better about what I spent to put black overlays on the outside of my 4Runner.

Everyone is free to do what they want of course, but personally I wouldn't want to affix anything to the spot where the airbag deploys. I know it's just a small piece of plastic, but I wouldn't want extra crap flying towards my eyes/face if it deploys.

I don't disagree with you, but I'm probably more likely to have an accident because of the sun shining into my eyes.

Even though I'm not fan of chrome bling subduing stock wheel badge kind of reminds me 90's steering wheel look. For you too young to remember:

Here is a before and after on my 2012 4Runner. Went with the Magnetic Gray Metallic.
