Wiring help for headlight upgrade

I'm currently in the process of doing a HID projector retro fit and adding in some DRL strips into the headlights. Hopefully a wiring guru can help me out here. The strips I'm using are switchback and will run white as a DRL and then turn amber when I signal.

Here's the problem, I would like the LED strip to activate when the truck is off and I lock or unlock the truck with the remote. Anyone know if there's a way to do this? Is there a fuse that I can tap into that is specifically for the keyless entry that will send a quick pulse to the LEDs so they light?

Seems to me that the parking light circuit is what triggers when you lock/unlock the vehicle, are you wanting white or amber to light up?

I want the amber to light when the door lock/unlocks via remote. But the problem is if I splice into the parking lights, when I start driving and use the signal, the DRL module wont activate because it's getting constant power from the parking lights. Was wondering if there is a fuse/wire that I can tap that only gets momentary power when the key fob door lock button is pushed

If I understand correctly, if you splice into the parking lights and have that connected to amber, you always have amber lights on? Then when you go driving, they are always amber?

The side mirror puddle lights (and also the dome and map lights) turn on when you unlock the vehicle with the fob and automatically shut off after a few seconds. Maybe you can trace that wiring, tap into it and use a relay (if needed)?

@4Rums I think that will be the way I do it. That way the amber lights will flash with the remote and then flash when I signal while driving. Thanks guys!

@supratt I'd love to see the finished product! Also more details on the parts/where you bought stuff, etc.

its been a crazy long process and im getting tired, but i know it will be awesome when its done. Retrofitted the projector low beam with a pair of IS350 Bi-xenon HID,s. The highbeam reflectors were painted and I installed Morimoto Mini HB which is a dedicated LED highbeam. So ya, quad highbeams with lots of light. Still a work in progress...

So did you cut/drill the OEM housing to make the IS projectors drop in? Looks like an interesting approach. I did a little trimming to the housing and felt like if I did anymore it wouldn’t have enough structure to be sustainable off road.
Definitely in for more details on this one. FWIW this is a long, tedious mod, but so gratifying when it’s finished. I just finished my retrofit and installed two weeks ago - after several months of building them.

that's awesome. Did you do a clear lens swap too? Makes a HUGE difference I had some TYC headlights that I bought awhile ago and cut them for parts. I used those brackets to mount the IS projectors. Went in smooth as a glove. I tested out the quad highbeam setup on the truck and it works perfectly to. Im also building in a DRL/switch back LED strip. Ill attach pics.

Today was a piss off. I sanded and prepped my headlights, used adhesion promoter and 2k clear. Something went terribly wrong and it etched the lenses. So now im stuck looking for 2 more donors.

In the kick panels, there are lock and unlock detect signals. I used them to trigger my folding mirrors. I believe you can use them to trigger your leds when locking and unlocking.

Blue - lock detect (bottom right)
White - unlock detect (top right)

I did IS bi-xenons with STi-R lenses and a few tuning spacers. It dulls the cutoff but the birefringence color is worth the trade off for me. My donor set was OEM, but I did trim some of the housing internals to get a perfect fit. It’s covered by the other half of the headlight housing, though. I kept the halogen drl/hi but it’s split to the solenoid for the IS, so it’s a complete plug-n-play install. I had toyed with the idea of something in the hi beam slot that was more useful, but I’d already been messing with these longer than I anticipated and I wanted to keep an OEM appearance.

Your setup will definitely eliminate the need for most auxiliary lighting. Nice work.

Hey thanks. I found a video online and that's the route I took

Thanks. Ya I tuned the projectors with STI's too but with 3 spacers I found the cutoff was completely unfocused. I went for the sharpest cutoff with only 1 spacer. There isn't much color, but I can live with that. O, and I did chop the housing, the one it the pic was just a prototype hence why you can see the broken frame. I only had to do some light sanding with the dremel
