Victory 4X4 rear bumper/Rigid cube lights question

I'll be installing the rear bumper Saturday with the 3" cube light already installed, I'm not real sure about how to go about the wiring of the lights. some say I should splice into my back-up lights wire, but I'm not sure I want them coming on every time I back up. so I'd prefer to have them on a separate switch in the center console. I'm not sure how tuff of a job It'll be tearing up the center console so if I have to, I also have some blanks on the left side of the dash and if I remember correctly that panel is easier to work with, it's also closer to the battery. anyhow, I'm a little confused and would appreciate any advise. thanks!

I strongly recommend using a relay to power those rear lights, NOT the factory wiring harness. it would work something like this:
FUSED power comes from the battery to your manual on -off switch. power goes back to the relay (18GA wire is sufficient for this) and connect to the 86 pin on the relay. The 85 pin goes to (any) ground. the FUSED "HOT" lead (12ga) will come from the battery into the 87 pin. the power wire to the rear of the truck (also 12ga) will come off the 30 pin, and run to the lights independently of the backup circuit.

This is the simplest method. same philosophy, but you would need a ON -OFF-ON switch to trigger off the backup lights OR the battery direct if you have to have that choice.

Good Luck!!
