New keyless entry keypad from Toyota

Has anyone seen or more importantly installed the new Keyless entry keypad on their 4runner? The ebay listing below says it fits 2019 and 2020. I've always loved these keypads on the Ford trucks I've owned. I really want to get this and put it on my 2019.

Found it on ebay, may be cheaper at a dealer

Found this link with Tacoma instructions. Looks fairly in depth but doable.

I emailed the ebay vendor for a copy of 4runner instructions.

Interesting...I agree, that was the one thing I loved about my Fords..having that key pad was great. would be a nice addition to the 4R..

I had this on my Raptor and thought I would hate it but it was pretty handy when going to work out or run in the park and just wanting to lock up my wallet and keys in the truck.

Right. Wouldn't be super nice for Limited owners or 2020+ premium trim owners (those are the additional trims with push button start now right?). I have used it on my Ford when I run down to the garage to get something from the car and realize I didn't bring the key.

Does it require any coding or is it plug and play ?

Stock feature on my Ford. Haven't used this exact model of keyless entry, just saying it could have some uses even for us smart key folks.

It came equipped on my 2020, which is pretty handy if you want to lock your keys inside and go for a run or out on a boat without having to worry with losing them. It’s very easy to program and there’s a reset button on the back inside of the touchpad.

The only thing I do not like is that is designed to be installed on the windshield. I don’t believe it is reusable if you have to replace the windshield. It’s a cool thing to have, but I’m not sure if insurance would pay to replace it with a windshield replacement.

Here are pics of the touch keypad and the backside.

Would be nice but $300 is kind of pricey

Does it run on batteries? Would suck if they died at the wrong time

Windshield mount is a no sale for me. I don't know why they couldn't put it on the B pillar, unless maybe Ford has a patent on a keypad for that location.

No, it does not run on batteries. I believe it’s wired through the “A“ pillar.

I have one on my 2020. It's pretty neat. I do a lot of outdoor activities so I wanted it for that. I can go cycling or running without having to carry my keys with me.
A special 2 button push locks it. Then your own personal code you create unlocks it. I can just keep my keys in the center console.

There was very little info on the net about it when I bought my truck last month. It is very new. I'm glad I have it though, I've used it a few times in the last couple weeks. We were negotiating on a vehicle and a competitor dealer had one on their vehicle I was going to get. My local dealer met their price and added this to match the specs/deal. They were able to install it at the local dealer. It does get wired in and at first I of course noticed it, but after a couple days of driving, I don't notice it anymore. It isn't in my vision or blocking anything.

**I just realized I need to change my avatar picture and sig**

Aside from the convenience factor where you don't have to have a key to access your vehicle, this is a terrible feature in terms of safety. How can you guarantee no one will break into the vehicle and drive off if you leave your keys in there for them to use to turn on the vehicle? You can't really stop stupid/bold thieves from stealing your vehicle if they really wanted to, especially if they're nearby and see you you "lock your vehicle" using the keypad.

Sure the odds of someone stealing a 4Runner is very low but nonetheless there is still always a chance it could happen. I'd rather not contribute to the odds of it being stolen so I'll keep my keys on me since I need it to access my residence.
