Group 25 Batteries

I have a 2020 TRD Pro. Is this series (group 25) battery an upgrade from the stock? I知 getting a dual battery set up and Spod in preparation for other additions (gotta handle power for the toys first) and this setup only allows group 25. They are fairly expensive at AutoZone so I知 going to assume group 25 are good batteries. But the stock battery looks expensive/high quality too (like see thru and I see liquid inside?).

Clearly I took no engineering classes for my degree and I can safely say I didn稚!

Haaaaalp?!??!!

you are probably talking about the genesis dual battery kit. group 25 is smaller capacity than group 24 but since you are going to a dual set up two group 25 will be better than one 24.

I am no engineer either, however from you description of the battery I doubt it's any better than the normal stock battery.

Is it a Panasonic battery? Those are damn good batteries and will last a long time, but nothing special, all the 4runners I've purchased have had them.

Here's a quick read on liquid vs AGM batteries

One more here

Google can find hundreds of articles on choosing the right battery for just about any application. I think a lot of us go with AGM, but to each his own, as that adds a different set of issues for some.

If I was going dual battery I would go with 2 Odyssey Group 34's or 2 Northstar Group 27's. The Northstar will give you a slight uptick in cold cranking amps, reserve capacity, and ampere hours, but with additional weight compared to the Odyssey. The Odyssey's work well too and I run only one Group 34 at this time and it works great for my application. Both batteries I mentioned are AGM and if you are running lots of accessories I would definitely consider AGM batteries for that purpose. I don't think you can go wrong with either that I mentioned, but you definitely have to pay to play the AGM game for sure. They will hold up great (in my experience) and with a dual setup you shouldnt have any problem running most anything you throw at it. Hope this helps!
