HELP: Steering Angle Sensor - Traction Light and Powersteering Light

In an effort to not trade my 4Runner and to breathe some new life into it I had started a series of small projects to freshen it up.

I swapped in a factory navigation radio from a 2016 4runner and hooked up all the adaptors to make it functional... and then decided to swap my worn out base plastic steering wheel for a leather wrapped wheel which is where my current problem started. In hindsight there were much better install videos and articles but the one I found pretty much completely ignored the important of making sure the airbag wires where pushed out the back of the wheel and the nut left on loose to catch the wheel during removal. The wheel came fast which I caught but it grabbed the wires and popped the cover off the clock spring. I attempted to respool the clock spring and initially did, however, on the maiden voyage about two blocks from my house both the power steering light and traction control light came on. I tried to inspect the clock spring and the cover would never stay on, so I went ahead an replaced it with an OEM unit. I removed the steering angle sensor and installed it on the new clock spring and got everything buttoned up. However the power steering light and traction light remained on. So today I did the zero point calibration the ABS light flashed, the traction light flashed during the initial phase where you connect the wires 4 times in 8 seconds. In the second part where you hold the wires together the ABS light flashed fast but the traction control light didn't...

Has anybody seen or dealt with this. If it just needs a calibration or reset I would prefer that over throwing another $60 part at this... I can't imagine how unplugging the connector to the sensor broke it, I can see how being disconnected it may require recalibration?
