Question Question on TRD Off-Road Suspension and Shocks

Is the shocks and struts that Toyota uses different for the TRD Off-Road than the SR5?

Got a limited and wondering what it would take to put that suspension on mine.

Would it be just the shocks all around, would I need the springs too, and what else?

Todd

They are different. Plus the TRD off road comes with locking differentials, crawl control and other things that would be impossible to add to a Limited. If you want a different suspension, I would suggest after market springs, shocks, or spacers, and different tires. The limited comes with lower profile tires which are not suited for off road use. Other threads on this forum will have advice on suspension and tires.

Same shocks on the Offroad and SR5. The Pro model uses a different set from Fox (previously used Bilsteins).

Regarding putting any aftermarket shock on the limited, you'll have to disable/remove the XREAS system when you do. If you want to replace the shocks, I highly recommend looking elsewhere instead of OEM. Like Bilstein 5100s are a good all around value shock.

Thought they would use something else on the TOR than the SR5.

I know that Pro uses the Fox setup, but that's a couple grand. Didn't want to go that far.

I know I would have to remove all the XREAS system.

Tried looking elsewhere and everything seems to be on backorder until November or December.

Thanks.

Yeah, SR5 and TRD Off-Road suspension is the same. You can find people selling brand new stock take-off sets for $100-$150 easily. I still have mine in the garage that I would give away for free.

That said, I agree with the above poster. Buy something aftermarket if you have the money (buying stock take-offs would be by far the cheapest option). Bilstein and Old Man Emu are solid value that should ride better and won't break the bank.

If you were closer, I'd totally take your set lol. Need a back up set for when I rebuild my shocks lol
