Reconsidering swapping out my stock tires so soon?

I see a lot of people swapping out their stock duelers... and only recently realized, those are NOT the tires I have haha

I've got a canadian 2020 TRD off-road, and my tires are Dunlop Grand Trek A/T.

I was looking at the Wildpeak AT3W which are also severe snow rated, which would be nice (I've never run SNOW-rated tires or dedicated winter tires, only M+S... but I've also never ran a RWD car/truck).

Outside of winter-rating, how can I compare the "performance" of these two tires? The main thing I know is the wildpeaks are liked, they're considerably heavier, and they have a snowflake symbol...

Here's your last thread on the issue. I also had the Dunlop Grandtrek AT20 tires from the factory.

Just know that every tire is a compromise. You just have to decide what your priorities are.

Recommendations on best "do it all" tire?

My 2020 came with the GrandTrek AT20s. I swapped them at out 600 miles for 285/70/17 wildpeaks. Couldn't be happier.

The Dunlop Grandtrek are common on new 4Runners --That was what was on mine. I took mine off with less than 5K miles and sold them online for a good price. With the safety rules now days, it is illegal in the USA for a tire dealer to sell used tires. I did my research and choose the BFG KO2. It is an excellent all weather & snow tire. It rides the same as the Dunlop but will wear much longer. And BFG tires are now made by Michelin, probably the most quality tire brand in the world.

Don’t settle. It is not worth waiting 20,000 miles or more to finally get good tires. You can get a bit back for selling the new old tires.

Almost all tire dealers buy and sell used tires as part of the business model. It's probably just your tire dealer not wanting to do it or not wanting your used tires.

Swapped out for Wildpeaks about two weeks ago. Ride a little bit rougher (expected), just as quiet as the stocks (very surprising to me), and have been good in the rain. Can't comment on snow yet, but I've been happy with what I've read about their performance and one of the reasons I got them. On top of that, they look waaay cooler than the Grand Trek's.

I find that the Tire Rack has a plenty of real life owner reviews on tires including the OEM tires. I also use them for price comparisons. The Dunlops are rated even worse than the factory Duellers on the tire rack so if you're in an area that sees a lot of snow, swapping them out might be smart.
