2017 Rear brake squeal in reverse...

I've got a brake squeal when backing up out of the driveway. I don't know the brand of pads, but there is lots of meat left on them. I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem, and if they have had success with a solution? My first step will be a good clean and grease, if that does help - new, better pads. I also see there is a OEM anti squeal shim kit...

Sequel backing up can also be caused by the emergency brake shoes so clean, adjust and lube them as well. Be sure to use the high temp brake grease on the back of the pads to help with a sequel problem.

Hi Mcd3mcd3,

I have a 2012 4Runner LE with only 25K miles on the clock! I was very surprised to learn that my rear break pads wore out with 15K miles on them; No extra loads on the truck e.g. Boat, Camper, equipment or rear passengers in it; just me!

But the rears wear out, due to the extra work brought on by the VSC, ABS, Skid-Control...etc! So I started turning them off around town; ...that's gotta be creating gas mileage issues...(?)! Something to think about! 'Best to you',

rig, Cheers!

Might be rust if it has sat overnight. Other threads on the same issue.
