Uptop alpha roof rack

Any one have one? I’m curious about wind noise? I don’t know why but it’s appealing to me. I’m torn between this and the Sherpa.

I have one sitting in my garage waiting to be installed. If I get to it soon enough I'll be happy to share my thoughts/experiences. Probably get beaten to it by quite a few folks.

I have one on my Tacoma and it was super easy to install, solid and zero wind noise. Cant comment for the 4runner yet but they engineered these for low to no wind noise and the faring doesn’t touch the body.

I've had mine installed for 6 months now and I'm really happy I made the purchase. The install was easy enough, I only had one issue putting everything together (put a bracket on the wrong side) so when all the pieces can together it was lopsided (easy fix).

I had the rhinorack before, and can't tell a difference in terms of wind noise. I have the baja lights in the scenepods, but haven't wired them up. I originally thought the handles were "too much" in terms of aesthetics and was not going to install them, but I'm glad I did because they are so helpful. I've had a lot of comments from others, passengers, etc. saying how much it easier it was to get it/get stuff off of the roof. The install however, is really tricky to get them right, so having the right tools is highly recommended.

The rack is massive, which is the main reason I went with them over competitors. The "pressure foot" being so far up front is great for any extra weight. The only real con I can think of is there's no slot to drop in a track nut, you would have to take to bar off or use their own "tracNUT" which rolls in. The tracNUT was a different thread than I used previously, so I had to take everything off the room and take the load bar out.

Went with the same. Agonized over the Sherpa rack vs Uptop and eventually went with the Uptop based on price. I picked up a set of spacers from RA motorsports and will use those rather than the supplied aluminum barrel spacers and silicone.

Spacer Solution for Bravo Rack

Hey all-

Recently installed BRAVO owner here are my thoughts:

- @sn_85 the spacers on the bravo rack are two different sizes with the back set being much taller than the mid. I tried to use my friend's old sherpa mounts and the install came on lop-sided and the cross bars were far too close to the roof to comrtfortably put any solid weight on them.
- only downfall is that I wish they made space for one more cross bar. the spacing between bars is juuuuust a bit too big.
- the gasket set/ spacer step is crazy unscientific
- the rack is solid, the wind noise is negligible, and provides so much space

For anyone else with this rack, have you found good hardware for mounting? (I know there's resources on the site, but...)

I'm looking at this bravo rack over the victory, I read a lot about leakage from the mounting holes with the victory. Has anyone experienced any leaking?

does anyone have installed photos with a 40-in light bar?

Hey sn_85; did the RA mounts work perfectly with this rack? I am not a fan of the metal spacers provided and I am curious to know how they fit.

Thanks!

Also curious how the RA mount worked out as well. My bravo rack is coming in.

I've had this one for a while now, and I can say a few things about noise...

It isn't quiet, but it isn't crazy loud. I get a lot of whistling noises at lower speeds, and just wind noise on the highway. Not enough to be an issue. I've also got traction boards and stuff that don't help, so I live with it. There is a bit of a squeak from the front right foot, but that seems to be an adjustment issue. I also don't want the truck much so a lot of things make noise. Haha.

I did not install the handles, because they're a) complicated to tie (I was too tired), and b) couldn't find a real benefit. You can either grab the rack or the handle mount if you need to. Has worked 100% of the time for me.

Those are my thoughts at the moment.

Are you gonna keep the handles? I'm 6 months in and might want them. Fully loaded rack over here

Were you able to find a different mount?
I just ordered the Sherpa rubber mounts for the uptop bravo. Wish I read this first before I ordered though, I'll try to see if I can mod it somehow but man that's not looking to good.
