Nick recommended another fab guy in VA to do the install to save me the drive but that guy had relocated. In the end, I'm very happy I took it to him. Quality work and there were certainly details he was aware of as a professional welder that I would have missed if trying to do this DIY.
Best way to go.

To each their own man. There's quite a bit more clearance than a BMC. That said, BMCs obviously work...hence so many being done.

My thoughts exactly. I was rubbing in a few places on 33s when on trails in Washington & Jefferson Nat'l Parks recently. I know there will be plenty more trimming and adjustments needed on 35s. At least this is one thing I know I won't need to readdress.

I've got 37's and just a somewhat aggressive standard body mount chop. Haven't even plated it back together. Got me through the Rubicon trail so I guess it works.

The 5th gen must have a different design than the 4th gen's body mount.

The 4th gen's body mount is made from steel and we trim them to make clearance for bigger tires.

The 5th gen must have different wheel well dimensions and orientation of components within them or they'd be called a 4th gen.

It must be nice to only have to trim your body mount and not need to add +2 LT.

You don't think they share the same frame dimensions?

J120/J150 Platform: A Better Body Mount Chop?

With 37's it helps to have the +2", but I've seen it done without. That truck also made it through the Rubicon.

With you guys talking 34's or 35's it should be easy to fit without needing to relocate the body mount. If you want to relocate for aesthetics you can sure go for it, but it's not necessary.

You heard it here first!

However, there are plenty of guys running around with 5th gens on 35's with little more than a lift, BMC, and proper offset wheels

I like how dudes jump on this thread and start making claims about things that were never said. Never said anyone was wrong about doing a BMC. Never said you had to do BMC on a 5th gen to go up in tire size. I did say there are many different ways to attack clearance issues. I also did a body mount chop without any welded plates for a while, guess what...it works. There are many different ways to attack pretty much every problem on the 4Runner. This how I decided to do mine and wanted to share a small businessman's work.

Troll elsewhere.
