I am not sure why you said a lift does not gain in ground clearance. My limitation is my front skid and a lift did wonders to change from hitting everything to only hitting the front skid occasionally. Stock size tires are plenty big, plenty heavy and plenty hard to balance as they are. No need to go to larger tires. Get a modest lift and good off road LT tires. Thats my 2c

I ran the factory size Wildpeaks for a long time before doing my life. Worked perfectly fine and got me everywhere I needed to go. Wife purchased me some Bilstein 5100 shocks and I put them in with the factory springs and only lifted the front on the first perch (.85”) and love it. It’s a little taller but the nose dive is gone when braking. Nothing gaudy.

Long story short, factory Wildpeaks will be great but lift it if you want to look cooler.

Naturally the easiest solution is wildpeak in stock size. At stock size on stock wheels, there SHOULD be zero chance of any rubbing, no?

Is there a reason you swapped out the wheels? And just curious, given you made the switch, why did you stick to stock vs maybe a modest 275 or even a different profile?

And your usage seems similar to me - any offroading I might be doing is usually followed by hour(s) of pavement or casual gravel driving that ANY car can do.

And yes, I am looking at full skid protection (1/4" aluminium, not steel). What is your protection looking like? I THINK stock is only engine - looks like RCI's "full kit" is engine, transmission, transfer case. It seems others don't seem to do a transfer case skid? Then there are other skids for some different areas? So overwhelming and as a non-car person, I am also not positive on where some of these other things are even located haha

Technically speaking, lifting an ifs and keeping the stock size tires only provides extra clearance if the suspension isnt compressed. Still useful for most cases though

If you just intend to drive mainly on fireroads, I think Front (engine) and fuel will suffice. If you start getting technical with some boulders, it doesn't hurt to add the others like transmission and transfer case. If doing even more technical, consider lower link and rear diff skids. My rear diff skid saved me from a hard hit (took a chunk of steel off the skid lol).

I only swapped out the wheels for looks. I just don't like shiny wheels, I got black ones. My wheels are offset and stick out a little, which made the 265 size tires rub. 275 would have been even worse. My skid plates are totally stock. I may add some more protection some day, but these have gotten me through some rough terrain.

This is mine.

Go stock 265s and be done with it. Don't forget to do the spare as well.
