Nice! Just came back from the locksmith and he didn’t charge me anything to get my 2 keys cut! We just chopped it up about guns the whole time and he said no charge. I’ll take it lol

Any specifics we should know about for cutting the meso key......should it be removed from the fob? Anything else?

Nope, nothing special but from my experience Home Depot and ace hardware couldn’t cut it because their machines were detecting the transponder. Ace said it’s doable but the one guy that could do it wasn’t in at the time.
The locksmith I went to cut it no problem, and just like the other places I went to, he asked if it needed to be programmed. I told him no since I would be transferring the chip to the new fob case.
I didn’t try getting the key cut while attached to the flip mechanism but it looks like the pin that you pull out once installed would get in the way and it’s only a set screw holding it in place so I would just recommend removing the blank for cutting.
I will have everything back together tomorrow, I asked meso but they haven’t replied on replacing the battery and how it’s done in the future if you need to take it apart so I just went ahead and ordered brand new CR2016 batteries from Amazon (less than $5 for 2).

Oh that would burn me up! I ordered mine last week from 4runner lifestyle, have heard nothing about shipping? Also, sent Stew at Meso question about red panic buttons, also have heard nothing
I ordered mine when the email goes out, got it yesterday. I got black because I didn't have a special color 4Runner. Cutting the transponder is not that bad, took me about 10 minutes to get it out with a box cutter. It does come with a blank and TRD cap for the spot below the flip button, I used the blank one.
Transfering the internals over is easy. It works as intended for me because I keep my key in my pocket and got tired of getting poked by the key. It's not perfect, however, there are movements back and forth where the key sits in the fob, makes it feel flimsy to me. Also, there are gaps after the screws are tightened. Red panic button would be nice. Just some thoughts.
Potentially you could make the old key work by grinding down the other end if you don't want to get one cut, just loosen the set screw on the new fob. I like it though, might not be for everyone.

Here is their video on how to put back together. My key wasn't flipping open so had to take apart and do over so I found this video. MESO Flip Fob re-assembly - YouTube
Took me about 30 mins to get the chip out. Managed to slice my finger in the process.
I like it overall but it is bigger than I was expecting.

So did you take your original key and grind down or get the blank cut?
Debating which I want to do. The local key cut place wants $25 to cut. Ace Hardware is $5 but I'm worried about quality like other guys mentioned.

Glad this came out, we’ll all have to take apart sooner or later to replace battery

I would check a few more locksmiths. My local shop charged me $2.50 for it cut. It was totally fine - even cut without taking the key out of the fob
Was able to get my key cut today, shout out to the other member who took their blank to Havens Security to cut. Cost me $5 flat.
Mini-review: The tolerances are a little off, one half is slightly warped leaving minimal gaps on the ends, I guess this is expected from a 3d printed case. Due to the misalignment, the key sometimes catches on the edge when folding in. Flipping mechanism works well and the fob feels solid when cranking. With the issue regarding QC, I wouldn't say it's worth the $70 unless you're wanting to pay a premium to avoid jabbing yourself with the non-flip key.

You’re at least the second person seeing quality problems with the flip fob. You should contact MESO and send photos and descriptions. I’m sure he would be concerned and do something about it.
