TRD Cold Air Intake not available for 2020+?

Called my dealer today to order the TRD Cold Air Intake for my 2020 ORP. Was told it was not available for 2020 or 2021 models. Only available for 2019 and earlier.

Can anyone shed light on this? Did Toyota change the intake configuration on 2020’s?

It's the same engine and configuration since 2010. You can piece it together on the TRD website for that extra induction noise.

Can confirm it works fine on a 2020, search around on here for parts numbers and order from a local toyota parts website to save yourself a ton of cash.

Got details on what's needed?
I was thinking of waiting until black friday to snag a TRD intake.

Why replace your stock CAI panel filter with another, virtually identical panel filter intake? Just saying you might want to explore other options.

Is there really any advantage to a CAI on these vehicles in folks opinion (other than intake sound)?

I've actually seen it as a disadvantage if you actually wheel through water since I imagine it would make you more prone to a hydro-locking situation (but I have not looked at the designs in detail to be honest).

The only thing I've ever thought about doing at this point on one of these vehicles is a snorkel, and still have not convinced myself its worth the money for the one time a year when I end up in a creek crossing thinking it would have been good to have one as an insurance policy.

It draws air from the same location. There is a small “shovel” that might minimize splashing of water into the intake at the fender well opening stock. The TRD removes the shovel bit. Otherwise they are pretty similar for hydrolock concerns.

See link in my sig for my opinion.

Since the stock air filter is already getting cold air from the inner wheel well ( I just looked at my 2018 4Runner to confirm), that makes the argument for a CAI meaningless. The only other argument for the TRD CAI would be better air flow due to more surface area or a less restrictive filter element. TRD already has a less restrictive filter element that is direct replacement for the OEM filter (PTR4300083 - Trd performance air filter - high flow - Genuine Toyota Accessory), or the K&N Performance Filter (K&N Performance Air Filter Swap on 5th Gen 4Runner, TRD or K&N?).

Seems to me that these high flow replacement filters would be just as good as the more expensive TRD CAI, or am I missing something here?

I had CAIs on a 3rd and 4th gen. Never again. No gains. It felt like I lost low end torque for a little HP at 5,000 rpms. I do understand if you like the sound. Its also a cleaner under hood look wo those resonators.

Because it says TRD.. duh....

I agree though, the panel filter was a big turn off for me. I love my huge cone filter in my AFE Momentum GT

There's a dyno of someone's vehicle that pointed out a slight increase in HP. But the biggest draw is that the same person picked up a few MPG's. +2.4 MPG is considerable for me being that I'm at 13 MPG. Even +1.3 MPG is a 10% increase in efficiency so from that standpoint, it makes sense.

I have a really hard time believing MPG increases on aftermarket equipment. You’d think that give how important MPG and CAFE standards are to manufacturers they’d pursue any means of getting cheap gains they could already.
