OK Toyota, you got me. 4Runner owner for life.

I know you guys have been preaching it since I joined this forum, but after +100k mi and the past week, I'm totally sold. Did 2000 miles in 8 days. No less than 100mi per day. Mix of interstate speeds, bombing up/down mountain highways, creeping around mountain forest service roads, and some aired-down white-knuckle crawling/climbing through miles of mountain rocks and mud. A couple of days had all of this back-to-back. No drama, just aim it and go. Cranked up this morning like nothing ever happened.

If I can help it, I’ll never not have a 4Runner. Also, huge shout out to Eibach suspension, JBA Offroad UCAs, and Mickey Thompson Baja ATZp3.

My previous vehicle, a '13 FJ Cruiser that I bought new, was my first Toyota. I loved it and it sold me on the brand. After 145k fantastic trouble free miles I traded it in on my current '19 T4R ORP which has been awesome. In between the two vehicles my wife had a '11 T4R SR5 and now has an '18 C-HR. It's gonna be dang near impossible to get me to buy anything else other than a Toyota. I hope the next generation 4Runner is as awesome.

Gotta love the 4Runner! My first one was a 1990 SR5 V6!

Toyota has been my favorite brand. The first one was a used 1975 Celica. When kids arrived, I didn't have much money, so I bought a used 1983 Corolla. Next car was a used 1997 Avalon. Now I have a 2011 4Runner Trail which was purchased new and right now, there's no way I would ever sell it.

Never thought I would own a 4runner myself. Once I drove one I knew it was something I wanted. Best decision ever!

Same here. Bought an FJ in 2007. 7th one off the assembly line. Replaced it with my 5th gen in December 2009. Again pretty early production number. It’s been flawless ever since. I still have it but also just picked up a 2021 Tacoma Pro (with manual) it might be best Yota yet.

Jeep guys will disagree but Toyota 4runner is a legend in America more so then the land cruiser. Even though the land cruiser is legendary in the rest of the world.

I only purchased two new TOYOTAs, kept the 2003 Tacoma as a fishing/beach rig with over 300k miles on her, and keeping the current T4R for my son, waiting on the unicorn 6th Gen to expand the fleet. TOYOTAs 4 Life

I was a Jeep guy; started with a '89 Cherokee, then an '06 Wrangler. Both were go anywhere, especially off road in western Colorado (13,000 feet passes) and crawling over rocks in Moab, Utah. Jeeps are 'king of the mountain' in those places.

Then I bought my '18 4Runner. It goes everywhere the Jeeps would go, but the 4Runner is so much smoother -- quite comfortable over the rocks, where as the Jeep are rather rough, even uncivilized. I'm now sold on the 4Runner.

Last summer in Colorado, I still saw lots of Jeeps (that's what all the rental companies issue), but there were almost as many 4Runners.

Same here, I never even considered test driving one. The wife is who wanted it and while driving home after getting it for her, I fell in love and had to get my own lol.

Last year I started looking for a newer vehicle for ME. I get something for the family, the Wife, the kids as they started driving.
I was driving the same 50 year old pickup for 35 years (still do occasionally), or one of the 40 year old motorcycles (still do), but I wanted something easier on my now 60 year old worn out body. Not to mention that the pickup doesn't have A/C and we'd just moved to AZ. The hottest part of AZ at that.
I've always wanted a muscle car, but that wouldn't be very practical where we moved to. Very rural AZ. In researching vehicles (I want a Jeep) I, keeping an open mind, looked at the 4runner. In my search I talked myself into a 4runner. Almost bought a Wrangler, but with two adult offspring still at home, I resisted. Came real close to buying a Jeep TrailHawk. Air ride just made it a "no".
So almost one year ago bought the 4runner and have no regrets. I "really" like driving it, I can use its capabilities here in the desert recreationally and sometimes simply travelling our primitive streets (got it stuck on Carrizo Dr, two "blocks" from home, until I pushed the ATRAC button). So it is comfortable and practical.
Oh, we bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee two months ago for a kid to drive. What he had been driving, a Dodge Magnum, stopped running
We have quite a motor pool now. We need more quads.
I have no intention of getting rid of "Fez", the 4runner

I wonder how many 4R owners are repeat owners here of 4R... my history goes like this...

(1) 1999 Limited - owned since new, totalled at 390K kms, insurance paid 7K
(2) 2010 Limited - bought in 2013 same year and wife still drives it
(3) 2011 Trail - this was mine, bought used in 2014 and drove until 2018 when I traded it in for a VooDoo
(4) 2019 TRD Pro - VooDoo Blue, Drive for a year before my son took it away from me... lol... he said the colour only suits him
(5) 2020 TRD OffRoad - i got myself a new one again and no one else can touch it... i transformed it into a full TRD PRO.. and love it with KDSS and Fox combination

total 3 in the household.

Ower for life... 20 years later i can still say and more to come... depends on what the 6th gen bings.

This was my 2nd foreign car (foreigner, 4runner). I buy for long term, that was one reason for the 4runner. Lots of them on the road, very few for sale.
At 61 years old I'm betting this 4runner will last longer than me.
