Gobi Rack alternatives?

Not sure if the Gobi Rack is overkill for what I want to use a roof rack for. Mainly looking to haul camping gear, but definitely not a tent for on top of my car. Also, do all of them come with the ladder on the back? Not interested in having that. What are other alternatives that have just as much space and similar quality? I have a sunroof.

Factory rack works good as long as you don't plan to use a cargo box (Yakima or Thule) for the cross bars are to close to the roof for the cargo box mounts. They are inexpensive and you can find good used ones on Ebay.

The TRD Pro roof rack is also good but hard to find. Not available from dealers but can sometimes find on Ebay. Expensive.

Victory 4x4, Prinsu/CBI, Southern Style Offroad, Wescott Designs. There are lots of options.

It really just depends on how you want to strap your cargo down.

Gobi has the mesh link floor that you can pretty much strap down at any position. Prinsu, Front Runner, Rhino, etc., have single bars where you slide the eye nuts through.

No racks (that I know of) come with a ladder. You have to buy that separately.

I run LFD cross bars on my factory roof rails. Easy to bolt on, gives a place to attach stuff to, and doesn't cost a ton.

there are more options full or 3/4 look at Baja racks also you can go with the Factory roof rack and cross bars and just add a basket that would be the option you need
look Toyota offers a package called Ventura and thats what is on it , Kuat makes awesome basket check it out
you can pickup a roof rack & cross bars in the market place pretty cheap good luck

Gobi comes with the ladder.

OP, when comparing other racks to the Gobi, it's not that much more expensive to just get the Gobi. It's a wait, yes, and it's not cheap. But I wouldn't do any other rack now that I have a Gobi. It is the best rack for most users.

Are you going to mount an awning? I like the racks with sidewalks for that, even though you can mount one to any rack (including factory crossbars).

I have a Gobi and love it, fits my needs great. No RTT. Mainly use mine to haul camping gear or SAR response gear. I like the mesh flooring. If I didn’t have an awning I would have gotten the Baja Flat Rack.

Victory 4x4 full rack is a great addition. Lots of mounting options, easy to install. Easy to modify. Victory 4x4 is GREAT to deal with as well
