Question on replacing the TRD Off Road Premium Black Softex Seats with Tan Leather?

If I upgraded the seats in a 4Runner TRD Off Road Premium from the black Softex to tan Katzkin perforated leather seats would that like hurt the resale value of the 4Runner?

I have not bought the 4Runner yet but I’m inching closer after doing a lot of research. I usually get tan leather seats in the vehicles I drive. I like the color contrast and found they are a lot cooler in the summer. I’ve never done a seat upgrade like this before so thought I’d ask on here first if it was a good idea or not.

Thanks!

I don't know if they would hurt resale or not but I think tan would look really out of place in a non-tan interior. So much so that I would pass on it if I were looking to buy. If you don't want black then I'd suggest gray & black 2-tone seat (gray center, black bolsters) or a light gray & dark gray combo.

The Katzkin leather by itself is nice. When we bought my wife's C-HR we had the dealer install Katzkin leather since leather was not an option.

I love my Softex seats. I live in Texas. I had leather in my last Jeep and I will say these Softex are way more durable. My dog has jumped all over them and not one scratch. My leather had scratches all over them.

That’s good to hear as I have dogs also. My main concern with these seats are feeling hot or sticky as I live in NM. How do they do for you in TX?

I feel like they are less hot than leather. I use the remote start and that gets them cool and keeps them cool IMO.

The softex seats are around 20% cooler than leather, more durable especially when it comes to moisture. Europe where most cars are leased and the manufacturers need to retain their value switched to synthetic a long time ago. The softex seats are very low maintenence. Now I can't tell you how they compare to perforated catskinz but I'm happy to have softex over leather

They do alot of things different there. It doesn't mean it's good.

Most Germans don’t buy their homes, they rent. Here’s why — Quartz

I have family who live in France. I enjoy every minute Im in Europe. I cannot imagine renting again, living in a condo or a house with an HOA.
