What is this?

Tail lights are blinking, some honk/click noise from the hood, the dash has random lights blinking and the doors won't open, even with the key.

There are a number of things that can cause this. Top of the list is a poor ground at the battery/battery ground cable. Others could be battery charge level low (alternator or an old battery). Do a thorough electrical system diagnosis including battery voltage (both engine running and engine off), and alternator current output.

It could be a poor ground somewhere else. Seems the poor ground drives the instruments and other electronics crazy, causing the symptoms you are experiencing.

How do you get into the vehicle to open the hood if the doors won't unlock?

I assumed he meant the unlock push button on the key fob. The mechanical key is direct mechanical link to the lock and would always work even if the battery was dead.

Yeah he said "even with the key". If he means the actual key in the door lock not working that would be extremely strange.

Im not sure if this is the same problem i had but i figured i would give you my story/f up
A few years back i was going camping loaded up the truck and started heading north. When I got to my first rest stop went to lock my truck and nothing from the FOB figured it was from a dead fob battery not a big deal. Locked the truck with the key and went about my busness. When i got back to my truck I noticed my dome lights where flashing it litterly looked like my truck was breathing the lights came slowly on dim to bright then bright to dim very strange i have never seen it before. called toyota they said they have never seen that before the truck was acting weird for the week i was gone. when i got home i took it to the dealer they had it for 2 Days! still nothing. They couldnt figure it out they almost ordered a new ECU for it. come to find out i had pluged my cell phone battery pack to charge into a cheap usb bullet that i got from amazon or a gas station in my center consol and totaly forgot about it. It was back feeding the truck in some strange way causing all these strange things to happen. So maybe you have somthing like that going on ?
