So I can appreciate the "bolt-on" appeal, but for that price, a solid axle swap would far more economical (though does require fabrication, as I'm not aware of any bolt-on options). That's a ludicrous amount of money for the amount of ground clearance it offers.

Now, maybe I'm missing it, I don't know if there's planetary gears in the drop boxes that could be a big multiplier for rock crawling and such, but then ask yourself, is a 4Runner really the right platform for that?

It would be cool to fab up something like that using the 10k humvee portal boxes, custom spindles and arms, and 40's.. Would need a rear diff with a crazy low gear ratio in the front to make the final drive useable but could be center-mounted. Doesn't even need to be a strong diff as the portals reduce the diff load, just something small in the front to increase ground clearance.

I'm assuming a rear diff center section in the front would turn the cv's the correct direction... The humvee portal boxes reverse the normal cv direction. I'm thinking supra rear diff...

This is also assuming the portals can survive highway speeds for extended durations. Might work well on my Tundra instead of a SAS.

Might be a good plan until they come out with a RCLT front kit for my Tundra.

The price of our portal kit for the 4Runner, Tacoma and FJ is $14,000.
Base complete set:
Portal gearboxes 4pcs
Front bracket 2pcs
Rear bracket 2pcs
Half-shafl 2pcs
rear brake disc 2pcs
brake caliper with 2pcs
handbrake

If you think that's an unfair price, I'd like to know how much the alternative you prefer would cost)
I would be very grateful for a reply )

Check out the RCLTHD kits from Marlin Crawler - $7k.

Still have to get the CV's etc. but looks like a beefier setup at least.

I wonder what a real demand would be for something like this...

I have a half-finished project to use internals from a MB G-Wagon' s portal axles in a custom housing for a 4Runner's front IFS...

Those MB parts are unfortunately wickedly expensive. Much easier packaging than the hummer stuff though...

It's a decent price as it basically includes a regear and a 5-inch lift in one step without trashing your cv angles. Not sure everyone is realizing how inclusive this is.

The RCLTHD is also an option but the actual price when you look at their required parts page is 9700 -11700. And doesn't include regearing your axles. It does move the front axle forward which is nice.

Unfortunately I don't have the ability to post pictures of our work here, but you can look at our website or on our Instagram or FB.
I would like your friends to know more about us and be able to ask me any question so you would not think we remake VOLVO )))

Now if Toyota offered this as the defining feature for the TRD Pro, then I'd accept the validity of their price differential.
