Got 285's put on last week...

2" measured lift up front. 285-70-17 on 17x8 w/ -10 offset.

Trimmed the front bumper a touch, didn't move the liner at all. Pushed the mud flap back a touch. Only minimal rub on the flap hump at full lock.

Got the same lift specs on mine. I still think it's funny how at that lift with 33s it makes it look stock height again especially in pictures. Looking good !

Man that looks great, really makes me want to grab 285's. Nice to hear that you only had to do a small amount of wheel well management to clear most of the rubbing. I'm rocking -12 offset with my RRW wheels.

If you want to get rid of the rub on the mud flap hump there is an easy fix that I did. You can easily cut two vertical slits next to each other in the mud flap and zip tie it back to the hole in the body mount. This literally takes 5 minutes. I put up with slight rub forever at full lock and pulling in places, etc. until I did this. Makes all the difference being able to do whatever without any rubbing. If you need more explanation let me know and I can get some pics.

Heat gun and mold it back with a wooden 1x1 works for the mud flap rub too.

I tried that, didn't work. I took the mud flaps off.

Here you go! I got about 3/8" more clearance on each side by doing this!

Inside fender well!

Backside of mudflap at the body mount!

The amount of space I have now between tire and mudflap!

Doesn't rub in any direction now... onroad or off!

This was mine with a spacer lift to get maybe 2" up front and OG BFG KOs. Rubbing everywhere, especially on backing up. Removed mudflaps, cut the hell out of the front liner, installed a proper 3" lift, did a BMC and installed wheel spacers to keep the tires away from the UCAs.

I don't know how the rest of you are getting 285s to fit without a proper lift wheels/spacers, and BMC, or I just articulate and stuff them more than most.

the 4runners definitely look nicer with larger tires.
i jumped from 275/70 to 285/75, nice upgrade.

had a bmc ages ago. worked well until i put in spacers. running close to -40mm offset now and no rub hah.

No wheel spacers is the key and stock offset “Trail” rims (not SR5 or limited). Hits the sweetspot of inside (UCAs etc) and outside clearances (fenders, flaps, etc).

I put over 59k on my 265's and were still in good enough shape that when I listed for sale several people wanted them.
