Owners in cold areas, clunk from struts?
Second winter with my 2017 4runner, first winter with my Dobinson's setup. When it drops below 40 degrees or so, especially in the morning when it's been 15-20 degrees out, there's some clunking when I pull out of park. Goes away after about 15 seconds. Is that an oil inside the struts thing.. it needs to heat up? I've looked at a few threads and this has been mentioned. Anyone in colder areas like ND have this issue and it's normal? Freaking me out and I've been under the truck multiple times and everything looks proper.

Only 1 full winter with my 2020. Outside of annoyingly loud squeaky brakes, Iv'e experienced no clunking thankfully. I live in MN.

During winter, I get that in the morning but goes away quickly. Shocks do need to warm up too. If you're aggressive on cold shocks (rare in daily driving), you could cause some oil to leak past the nitro piston (in a monotube shock)

See I don't recall hearing this sound when I had the stock suspension on it last winter. I do now with the Dobinson's.

Thank you, I appreciate the feedback. You know how it gets with noises that you try to diagnose and drive you crazy, or at least think you're breaking something expensive.
I'll do some tests with letting the vehicle idle for 5-10 minutes before driving vs startup and go. Cheers.

Oops let me rephrase that, warming up not like warming up the engine way but driving around normally will warm up the shocks as they cycle. Give that a try and see how it goes!
