Exclamation FYI Arb now has a bumper for the 2020+

Found this link on the Facebook, no part number and it says it doesn't fit the limited (obviously) or the "TRD" ? Model. Must be a typo. Toyota 4Runner 5th Gen ARB Winch Bumper - 2014-On 3421570K — Mule Expedition Outfitters

Holy crap! Right! Add another 70-110 for a winch, some more if you add lights, those arb bumpers beam out too. They are perched way out front, compounding all that extra weight. Man that’s nuts, it has to be a typo.

EDIT: nope checked arb web says 191lbs. For their summit series

Just spoke to ARB tech support. They confirmed that it will not fit TRD models.

Not compatible with TRD Off Road or TRD Pro? So that means it fits the SR5 and that's it?

Can you explain why this is an issue? I have the summit bar on my rig and the added weight is not noticeable IMO. The fact ARB that has the only bumper design and tested to work with airbags and crumple zone is a big upside. I am not aware of any other bumper available in North America that is.

I actually don't hate how it looks, but damn, nearly 200lbs before a winch or anything else. Would be good to see ARB do something a little more low profile/slim.

Well if you go drive a "stock" truck trd pro, or similar whatever and tell me you don't notice the difference, weight wise

There is good weight to have and there is bad weight to have. This is bad weight if you don't balance out the load front to back.

Is that the only forward weight you have?

I have a hidden winch mount 40 lbs, a 110lbs of 12.5 superwinch talon with 100' 3/8 rope, and a 80lb odyssey 31m, all the weight is cantilevered over the front, not directly over the wheels, which would be way better. It is poor weight distribution. Add another 200lbs more for 400+lbs? There is also a real good chance you'll eventually start seeing tearing in your front fender wells. If you don't have weight in the back to even out and balance the load you are putting all the work on the front end, that isn't safe either. The suspension components themselves I am sure are designed with latitude, being more over engineered rather than under, really who knows, that is just speculation.

The trucks stock weight distribution is pretty dang good, feels pretty even. I noticed when I added the battery. Again after, I added the winch just before I upgraded the suspension (it was delayed in shipping) my front end had sunk over almost 2 inches from the added weight, it was pretty funny looking not to mention hell on the tires, only drove it once that way. I put fox 2.5's and 600 lbs springs and to be honest I could use a little more.

I do a lot of canyon driving the driving characteristics notability changed. Corners that previously were fine, were now firing off traction control at the same speeds. That weights wants to carry straight.

The crumple zone, is great, AFAIK the airbag system measures deceleration so they should go off regardless of the bumper you have.

I am sure someone else could have explained this better.

100% agree. With any modification a person needs to be aware of what it affects.

The stock suspension setup on the 4runner is less than desirable, even in stock form.

Wow, that is a heavy winch, my warn vr10 weighs 59lbs, maybe 65lbs with the synthetic rope. With bumper I am at ~256lbs...your set up is ~230lbs not much difference at the end of the day. I have Icon 2.5 series w/700lb coils.

It would weigh ~45+ pounds less with synthetic rope and a hawse fairlead, not that I am opposed to synthetic ropes, I think they're fantastic, since the winch is "hidden" I prefer the literal 1% maintenance a wire rope needs over a synthetic, durability is well hands down an order of magnitude, albeit they are more dangerous. The 3/8"s rope is thick, it is a beast, you're going to tear the front of the truck off before that breaks. The winch itself, is heavy (and holy sh*t its fast) but rated over, it stays cool and doesn't need to work at all hard to pull this truck. Again need to be careful with it just like anything you use that goes under load.

What about your battery(ies)? skids, sliders, compressor(?), lights(?), ect. all those small pounds add up too. they are in better locations (some are good weight, low and centered) but still add to GVW.

Yeah, like I mentioned my truck drives noticeably different, without all that and the suspension I have, this truck would certainly be a lot more nimble. I couldn't imagine adding another 100-150lbs up there without adding a steel rear bumper+carriers

LOL man these trucks are pigs, really, by the time you build it up your driving a Sherman
