I have a 2 1/2" lift and I have to change the front KDSS sway bar bushing's every 10K-15K miles (when I start hearing the clanking in the front left again).
It seems even stock height 4runners have this failure to some degree.
I'm guessing Toyota added the band clamps to try to keep the bushings from extruding out from the bushing seat during articulation. They come off pretty much as soon as I replace them. I've tried tie wraps but they come off just as easily. So, I'm just resigned to replacing the bushings at every other service interval.
I know a lot of work has been done by forum members to come up with mods to get the rear KDSS sway bar back to stock alignment after a lift but I haven't seen anything attempting to address the front sway bar. I'm wondering why more people with KDSS aren't having this problem, or do they just live with it without complaint?
