TRD Skid Plate on a 2018 SR5
Forgive me if this has been asked. I’m looking at the TRD Skid Plate for my wife’s 2018 SR5 Premium. Looking online at the Toyota parts websites, some say that it will not fit, some say it MAY fit... My question is, will it fit?
Thanks for your help!

I put the TRD skid plate on my 2018 SR5 4Runner. It fits fine.
There are two versions. The early version has the "TRD" recessed in the metal (stamped) but not colored lettering. The later version has red "TRD" plastic lettering in the recesses, however the size of the recess is different between the two.
The red plastic lettering is easily knocked off if you hit a rock -- I did! Fortunately, there are replacement lettering from Tufskinz:
TUFSKINZ Be sure to get the right size. The Tufskinz letters come in different colors too, not just red. Skid Plate Inserts - Fits 2010-2020 4Runner TRD Skid Plate | TufSkinz
When I was looking for the TRD skid plate, they were VERY hard to find, for the factory would not supply them to the dealers; they wanted to keep all production for new TRDs. I did finally get one through my local dealer, but it took awhile.

Yes!. I had that problem as well. You have to be careful in aligning the bolts into the mounting points.
Since you have to remove the skid plate to change the oil, I worry that the monkeys at the dealer may strip the threads on the bolts/nuts!

It will fit as long as you don’t have kdss.
If you do, modification is required.

The SR5 has a skid plate so does the TRD version even do much or people just get it for looks? I guess it does seem a bit beefer though.

It's not much beefier. It's just aluminum so will crumple/have to be replaced the second it has to put up with much.

What do you think the stamped skid would have looked like after hitting a 18” dia pole across the roadway.
This skid more than likely saved my life by lifting my front end up rather than crumpling upon impact!
So that’s my answer, you may disagree.

The original skid plate is pretty thin metal, while the TRD plate is 1/4" aluminum; it is much sturdier. I can attest to that. Last year, while off roading, I hit a good size rock that took off one of the TRD letters, and made a pretty good gouge in the metal. I'm sure the thin sheet metal would have fared much worse.
To answer your question, I bought it for both looks and utility. After hitting that rock, I'm glad I did.
